Chapter 4 Bella's POV

My back still ached from the whipping, even though it was over 2 hours ago.

In the past 4 days (since I last updated the chapter) a new girl has came. Her new "name" was Grace.

Why was the man Halee called Gordin so twisted. The new girl has made us get 12 whippings since she got here. One was 2 hours ago.

We know what the time is because there is 1 black and white analog clock hanging above our whacking wall.

Jo-Ann hasn't spoken since the fight that went on inside my head.

Jo-Ann actually kept pretty hygenic. Her hair was in a fishtail braid at the moment, but usually she had it down and brushed it with her fingers.

Halee was the one that was a mess. She might have been a little like Jo-Ann at the start, but now she looked like a girl who had been stuck down in a basement forever. Well she almost had been.

My birthday passed a week ago. I had been taken 8 days ago. I got nothing special for my 21st. But with a maniac upstairs I didn't really expect anything.

We got 3 meals a day. With the occasional cake or pie. Every meal we had had meat in it.

I was vegan. My motto was 'I don't eat anything that used to have a face!'

But now look at me. Eating meat 3 times a day. Not even including all the dairy products he feeds us.

In some ways this place was better than home. I got feed regularly (didn't at home), I was looked after and had no freedom (it might sound bad but when I get freedom I find ways to get in trouble). But that definitely ends my list.

Back at home I used to get everything I wanted. Now I get none of the stuff I've taken for granted my whole life.

Thinking of home I wondered what they were doing. Were they even looking for me?

One day I asked my mom "Mother if I ever go missing would you ever stop looking for me?"

"We wouldn't even start!" She replied rudely.

But of course I knew she was looking for me. I was just getting ready to go on a date with the most amazing person in the world.

Would Gavin be looking for me? Yeah, duh.

He probably thought it was a game at first when he couldn't find me. He knew I had a sense of humor. But I don't have patience. That "game" would have lasts like eight seconds before I popped up and scared him.

Why couldn't I produce tears? Was there something wrong with me?

I can't "produce tears" because then he'll whip us. All. Over. Again. I thought to myself.

Halee's POV

I felt Faith's eyes on me but I didn't want her to know I knew. I get it. She was curious. Probably didn't know what to think about what has happened to us in the past 8 days alone.

A new girl came. Gordon called her Grace, so that was her new name now.

I told her the basic rules of the house. But she still couldn't grasp them.

I hardly even felt the whippings any more. But she just made me open an old cut on my back just because she screamed.

"What is wrong with you?"

So I had to treat my cut by literally rubbing dirt on it.

The new girl had long hair. By next yea she might even have my length. I came in with a pixie cut.

She was definitely going to be a runt. He might come down and kill her anytime now.

Me and Jo-Ann were the only people who had seen him kill besides the victims.

And I didn't think Faith was strong enough to see it just yet.

In about 6 minutes Gordin will be down here to give us all lunch. He really went above and beyond with break fast this morning. He cooked French toast and scrambled eggs and sausage and bacon. So lunch and dinner probably won't be much.

Grace screamed bloody murder. The floor creaked above us and we all lined against the wall expecting the outcome.

He came down with three dinners, 3 huge rags, and a knife.

He stabbed Grace right in the heart. There was so much blood pouring out.

Faith bit her lip and knew better than to cry in front of Gordin.

Gordin threw us the rags and roared to clean it up.

We did as we were told. But the musty, metallic stench of blood was still in the air.

I don't know how long Faith could be here without cracking.
