'Hey, little one!'
Anders was in the year above Lise. Her assigned 'buddy' when she'd first arrived. He had a Metallica patch on his backpack and a scruff of dirty blonde around his lips and cheeks.
'Mrs. Woodward is on the warpath for you, kid.'
'Me?' Lise replied dumbly. It had been hot earlier, and she had forgone any arm covering. Now the sky had turned back. Icy chips of rain had perpetuated and were raising goosebumps on her arms.
'Yes, you.' He leaned away from his group. Body twisted to her.
'She barrelled past me in the English block. Nearly had me over. She wants your head on a spike.'
Lise felt her insides start to writhe. Anders was staring and so were his friends.
'Are you all right? You've gone a bit red.' Laughter. 'She's not as scary as all that.'
'I haven't done anything though.'
'That's what they all say.'
