I slid my was across the cold marble floor allowing my top to creep up my sweaty torso and the ice cold marble to touch my untouched skin.
My whole body shivered as I slithered across the ice cold floor towards the light. My hand gingerly reached for the doorframe when I felt something warm wrap itself round my ankle and start to pull me backwards. I screamed, well at least I tried to scream, for help but all that came out was a muffled whisper. It felt like I was in a dream, as if none of this was real. But it was more real than I wanted it to be.
I thrashed my leg with such force that the hand let go and with all the strength I had left in my body I launched myself through the door and into the light. I lay there panting, my eyes cringing at the holy light that bounced off of every wall but I had enough vision to see the shadowy figure that loomed over me.
I wanted to run and find somewhere to hide or get help but I was paralysed and completely unable to do anything to change my current situation. I tried screaming or crying out loud but no noise appeared, I tried to move myself away from the shadow but I was so fatigued that my limbs would simply not comply. My only other option was to embrace my impending fate, whatever that may be.
As I lay there, my breath becoming shallow, the holy light around me seemed to become poisoned with a thick black vale that engulfed my surroundings. I believed that this was my fate and that this was how it was going to end so I allowed it to happen and gave no resistance when the light started to disappear. My sweaty, fatigued body lay there lifeless and unable to move, completely and utterly engulfed by the darkness in the light and I allowed myself o fall into unconsciousness.
Who knows how long I lay there in a shrivelled heap on the floor but when I came round I was sat on a chair at the end of the hallway I fell out onto. An unfamiliar feeling swept through my whole body, calm, blissful calm. However this would soon be shattered by my revaluation about who was standing in front of me. A woman dressed in a nurses uniform cautiously stood in front of me, as if she were waiting for me to say something or make a move. Instinctively I thrashed my legs out in her direction narrowly missing her face by inches. The nurse reeled back and screamed in order to doge my attack and assure me that she was not dangerous. Both me and the nurse were like cats protecting our territory equally on edge and equally confused.
" who are you?" I screamed as I tried to take control of the situation. No reply. Demanding answers I continued to persist with my endless list of questions.
"What is this place? Why am I here?"
"ANSWER ME"
"Wait.." A feeble voice emerged from behind a plant that towered over everything else in that room. "You
Don't remember why your here?"
"No," I replied with spite"why should I?"
The nurse appeared from behind the plant, a solemn look planted on her face.
"Oh, are you sure you don't remember anything? Not even about the collapse?"
"What? No! Just answer my questions"
As I began listing my endless list of questions the nurse advanced and placed her hand on my shoulder. She said five simple words that would change my life forever.
"It's easier to show you."
Completely stunned and bewildered I began following the nurse towards a glass door and a terrace that led to the outside world. I would never be the same again.
