"So" Kate says daintily, her cat tail swishing as she plucked a goldfish cracker from a pink plate and popped it into her mouth. "How'd you know we were sisters after you heard the word 'Amulet'? We don't have the same last name, Katana Spot."

"Well" I begin, closing my Scooby Doo lunchbox and arranging pieces of fruit to look like a smiley face on top of my sandwich. "Five or six months ago, mom comes home and just goes to her room and shuts her door. Next morning I awake to her sitting at the foot of my bed."

"Just sitting there?"

"Straight faced and dressed to the nines. She said, 'Katana, you are more than just a weapon. You hold the keys to the universe.' when I asked what she was talking about she said, 'You'll know when you find the Amulet girl. She was some of the outcome of your nincompoop father's sketchy business.' "

"Ouch." Kate says.

"Then I asked her if she needed to see a doctor."

Kate tilts her head back and howls cat-like with laughter.

"So" I say when it turns to giggles, "Seen any cute-cats? The males of your kitty ways?"

"Well... There's this one guy I like, his name is ki- Kipper."

"What's a Ki- Kipper? Is he your Alpha male?"

"No, his name is Kipper, and Mei'fwa don't have alphas."

"What?!? You don't have alphas?!? Then how do you keep peace? Do you just wave a fishy cracker and-"

But she wasn't listening. She was staring wide eyed at a blue tailed, brown haired Mei'fwa with a blue pine tree hat. I lean closer, grin on my face, "Is that him?" She nods. Her cheeks go straight to pink and she whispers "Yes, look at him. He's amazing. So smart. And when I see him its like gravity disappears." I snicker, but karma rockets to Kate's rescue, and the absolute hottest guy ever walks into the room.

"Ah!" I cry "Beast!"

"His name... is Beast?" Kate asks, and I nod. The figure with fiery orange hair and gold eyes looks over at me and winks, and its all I can do not to dye my ears yellow like his and join his fanclub.

Yes. He has a fanclub.

I catch a glimpse of Aaron, and I'm on my feet, but without a plan I slump back into my seat. I almost scream in frustration when he sneaks a loving peek at Aphmau.

"I wonder if Aaron is going to ask Aphmau out." Kate wonders aloud.

"Well, that would be the first time in a while the alphas were actually dating. Or even nice to each other..." I trail off at the sight of a newcomer.

Heading our way was a boy wearing a navy- blue cloak lined with gold thread. The hood was up, and his eyes looked black in the shadow. His shirt was black and the top two buttons were undone. He had dark jeans and black boots. The closer he got, the stronger the magic smell got, which explained how he managed to get passed the teachers in his getup.

Tray in hand, he stops opposite of me and Kate. "Is there room for me here?" his voice was deep and calm. He looked almost bored with his hood up, cascading darkness into his face.

"Uh, yeah, you can sit here." I say. Kate gives me a weird look and I gesture to the empty space around us as if to say, 'we're lonely!'

"Cool." he says, silently sitting, his tray doesn't even make a sound when it hits the table. Without being provoked to tell us, he says, "I transferred from a magic school. I decided to sit here since its not everyday you see an identical pair of people who just so happened to be opposite in terms of animal heritage. I never thought I'd see a werewolf volunteer to sit with a Mei'fwa. "

"Crazy family" Kate says. I say, "I'm Katana, and this is my half- sister, Kate."

He pauses, "Hydra."

Kate's eyes light up and she crows a "woah! Like a dragon?"

"It must be cool to be named after a dragon." I say. He looks up at me steadily. "And a lot of responsibility in my community. My family, the head of the spellcasters in my area, are of alight dragon descent. My full name is Hydra S. Pyro."

"YOUR A WIZARD?!?!?" Kate shouts in awe. Hydra snorts. "Hardly." and with a tilt of his head and a shift of his eyes he states, "I am just a simple spellcaster."

I can almost physically see Kate's curiosity, and mine rises to meet hers. Hydra seems almost bored. It kind of annoys me, so I look for something to get me away from dragon boy, if only for a moment, because I secretly wanted to know more. "I'm going to go talk to Alpha" I say, standing up.

Hydra looks up at me, and the light catches his eyes. They glitter and sparkle like a bowl of sequins, sending tiny rainbows bouncing off nearby metal surfaces. It stunned me for a second, seeing such a light. It was one of the most beautiful things I've seen.

He looks back sown at his tray. "Oh, right. You werewolves have alphas." he says. "I'll stay here with the mei'fwa." Kate corrects him and I blink and turn. I was the only one who saw his magic eyes. Only for a second.

They weren't black, just really dark brown.

"Alpha!" I cry out, rushing up to Aaron. He looks at me squarely "Yeah?" he inquires.

I thank him for being omega and swear to give back the kindness even if it means all the windows stay intact. He says no problem, and I stand there for another second before nodding and scampering off. After a few minutes I find Aphmau talking to a blond boy and I dive behind a trash can and right into a pink haired mei'fwa. She shrieks.

"Oh!" I exclaim. "Sorry... aren't you Kawaii-chan?"

"Yes, Kawaii-chan is." then she turns and growls, "Garroth-kun is beating Kawaii-chan's ship into the ground by trying to steal Aphmau-senpai's heart.... AND IT'S AARON-KUN'S!!!!!!!!"

I book it in fear.

:....................................................................

My next class was very easy, and it was even more easy to text.

I text Kate, 'I met Kawaii-chan.'

'when?'

'yesterday. She was behind a trash can spying on Alpha female. And a kid named Garroth.'

'Are they together?'

'I don't think so.'

'good. She's really protective of her ships. The one of your alpha's in particular. If they were things would not go well for him.'

When the bell rings, I get up and race to Aaron. When I'm close enough I dive under a bench. A human is there, so I throw him out the window. Aaron sits on it and mutters something about practicing guitar. Next thing I know I'm leading him to the practice room. Well, more like I grabbed his bag and ran with it over my head at full speed to the practice room. I throw it, dodge him, and book it.

"There." I say to myself.
