"Avatar we need you to sign these papers"
"You have to go to the Air temple soon, Avatar"
"Are they serving you well? Do you need anything Avatar?"
"The Avatar is not nearly skilled as he has to be, he can't leave now"
Dan was sick of the name already. Why does this people don't understand that his name was Dan? Either way he was happy that he was leaving the earth city, because after a week of training he didn't want to see Jack anymore.
"It doesn't matter if he isn't ready, Master Jack, he doesn't have time to waste, he needs to be in the West Air temple by Monday and it's a two day travel" one of the assistants that accompany him, Connor, said.
"I don't want to stay here any longer anyway" dan mumbled hoping that Jack didn't hear him.
"What's the matter Avatar? Don't you like my company?" He said smirking and Dan tried to laugh but no sound came out of his mouth.
Dan looked at Connor in the eyes. He was a little bit older than him, almost two years, and his blue eyes expressed concern. He was a good friend from back home, something to remind Dan of his origins, and his advice was always welcomed and listened. Connor smiled at Dan and he understood completely, 'don't answer this man, don't give him more excuses to talk to you'
"It was a pleasure, Jack, but as my assistant told you, I need to proceed to the next stage of my training and that is farfarawayfromyou...I mean here, far away from here." I stutter at the end but I thought I sounded good and convincing. Jack tended his hand to stretch mine and with a gentle smile said "good luck, Avatar" and went back to the inside of the building.
"Can we please go now before I start punching people who calls me Avatar 24/7?"
"Patience Dan. It's protocol, they are obliged to call you that"
"Well I'm 20 years old I should be call by my name, which is not very difficult by the way"
"Awe, stop complaining oh big master of the elements, we need to run"
Dan laughed at the exaggerated name and started walking to the vehicle that will transport him to the West Air Temple. He was particularly happy about going to that place, first of all because he was eager to learn how to fly and do air bending, and secondly because this was his mothers birth place. He always thought that he should have been an air bender, he had more of that personality. It kinda was, because in the end he was the avatar and he could control both fire and air, the elements of his parents.
After two days of tortuous journey they arrived to the most amazing building Dan have ever seen. They were literally hanging from a cliff, and if Connor haven't told him that that was the location he would have never find it. The building was designed to arrive only by flying, as a security measure. It was covered by silver and copper decorations, with lots of old paintings and an infinity of plants and little flying animals that, all together, made an incredible view. Dan loved it here, he wanted to stay here forever if he could. But of course destiny wanted him to do something completely different than what he desired.
The moment he stumbled to the ground he was surprised by two hands embracing him and a floral perfume invading his nose. All he could see was blond hair, blonde hair everywhere, and he could hear a little laugh too. When the girl stop hugging him he walked apart and could see her face. She had amazing blue eyes, a bright smile and a cheerful personality, and Dan was immediately smiling because this girl was adorable.
"Hey there!!! I'm Louise, very nice to meet you Avatar! And welcome to the West Air Temple, I hope you find it pleasing"
"This is absolutely stunning, it really is. My
mom used to tell me stories about this place, about how she investigated every bit of the temple and discovered a lot of things" dan said smiling, remembering his mom was always pleasing and sad
"Your mom is really loved here, Avatar. We all miss Melanie tons, but we know that, even living in the fire nation, she's happy and doing something good, look at you!"
Dan blushed and smiled faintly. He liked that someone was talking nice about his mom because she was the most beautiful woman he knew and it was comforting that other people thought that too.
"Well, I'm going to be your trainer here!" Dan opened his mouth to say something but Louise quickly interrupted him. "I know, I know what you are going to say,how can a girl be a master or teacher or something-"
"I was actually going to say that it was really cool to have someone nice as a master, my last one was kind of a jerk" dan said smiling at her. Where they really that orthodox in the air temples? Was it strange for a girl to be good at bending or something? Girls can do exactly the same as boys, it's not a matter of gender, but the passion you put to it.
"Oh,well that's really nice, thank you Avatar, you are really sweet." She smiled at Dan and grabbed his hand. dan thought it was a lost case to told her to call him Dan instead of Avatar, so he let that slipped. "You are going to stay here a week. Now, I know it's not a lot of time, it's almost impossible to cover everything, but you have a pretty complicated schedule so I'll try to teach you the basics and you'll have to practice on your own, understood?"
Dan nodded. "Am I...well..I was wondering if perhaps... would I learn to fly?" He said blushing immediately because he knew it was such a stupid question
Louise chuckled a bit and grabbed dan by his shoulder while she started walking to the training area, taking Dan with her. "Every time.  Every new student ask the same."
