Being originally from the fire nation, water wasn't a nice pleasant thing for Dan. Sure, it was nice to go to the beach and swim in the sea, but it was literally the opposite of his "nature", so he knew learning water bending was going to be tough. Connor knew this too, so he arranged the trip in order to spend more than a week in the water tribe because of the extra training Dan would need.
The vehicle parked in front of a gigantic-almost iglu like-building, which were the welcoming gates of the tribe. There were several people waiting with big robes and jackets, because the weather was really cold. Dan was used to the warm in the fire nation, he was used to fresh lemonade and days at the beach. Here instead, he was craving a hot cup of tea and a warm blanket.
"Welcome, Avatar. Is an honor to be in your presence" a big man said. Dan wandered if this was going to be his master. He nodded and extended his arm to stretch it with man. "My name is Igor. I understand this is your last stop in your trip?"
"Um, yeah, I guess. Connor said I'm staying longer here because of my difficulty to learn water bending" Dan said, he was kinda nervous because this guy was intimating. What was the name Louise told him? Was this his trainer?
"Ah, yes, of course. We prepare you a room in the finest place here, lots of luxury just for you Avatar"
"Oh I don't need any of that, a bed will be enough"
"Now now Dan don't be modest, we will take the room, thank you Igor" Connor spoke and shove me a look of let me handle this. "Perhaps you could show us the way to said room?"
"Sure, just follow my lead"
"Excuse me, are you going to be my trainer?" Dan asked while they were heading to the room. Igor laughed and look at him with a pretentious look.
"Do I strike you as a simple master? No, Avatar, I rule over here. Phil is going to be your trainer."
There you go, Phil was the name Louise told him. So who was this boy? In both earth and air lands the trainer went to say hi and present themselves at the first minute Dan arrived, but in this case this said Phil was nowhere to be seen.
"You will meet him later at training hours" and with that Igor slammed the door and direct Connor, Louise and the rest to their respective rooms.
Dan looked around the room and thought all this luxury was unnecessary. It didn't matter who he was, he really just need a bed and some food, this looked pretentious. He looked himself in the mirror. His hair had started to curl because of the cold, he was paler than the usual and some of the freckles he obtained in the summer where fading away. He was craving some paper and a pencil to draw something, that was the thing he did when he was nervous. Why the hell was he nervous? Louise's words about Phil kept going around his head: "he is pretty too". Dan knew he was gay, or at least bi, he didn't like to catalogue people, he just liked boys more. Knowing he es going to meet a cute boy made him question if he was looking good or where the hell could he find a straightener.
"You must be The Great Avatar" a voice came from the door frame. When Dan turned around to look he found a tall, spikey black hair guy, in a tank top with a tattoo in his arm, piercing blue eyes and a crooked smile. His arms where crossed and it made him more buffed. Dan wanted to talk but found himself speechless. He stood up straight and check his fringe one more time before mumbling a barely audible "yeah".
"Well Louise told me you were cute so I took a shot." He smirked and looked at Dan like undressing him with his eyes. "I'm Phil, I'll be your tutor/master/trainer or whatever you want to call it."
Dan went back to life when he said he was Phil.
"You are Phil?"
"Last time I checked, yeah, why?"
"Oh...um...nothing"
"Are you going to tell me your name or you seriously like people calling you Avatar all the time?"
"No, god I hate it. I'm Dan"
"Well very nice to meet you Dan. How old are you?"
"Turned 20 last month"
"Yeah you look more like a teen"
"I get that a lot. I'm sure you get that too, what are you, like 18?"
"Nice one, I'm actually 25"
"Oh, so you are older than me..."
"Yes, is that a problem?"
"God no. I mean...no it's okay, I don't mind"
"Cool, then why don't you move that nice ass of yours straight to the training area? You'll need to practice a lot if you want to be half as good as me"
