Give Me Wings

7 1 1

The little girl in the wheelchair

Said a soft prayer with tears in her eyes.

Gaze unbroken, as she stared at the skies.

"Give me wings, My Lord,

With which I can fly

So that I may soar with the eagles

Sun in my face, and wind through my hair,

So that I may leave my mark upon the earth

And generations that come may know I was there,

So that I too may bathe

In the rainbow colours of the sky

So that I may paint a sunrise and a sunset

In brilliant colours of my own...."

And a voice was heard from above...

"My child, you fly

On the wings of a prayer

Of those that care,

On the back of hope

Of better tomorrows,

On the energy of your dreams

That knows no bounds,

On the selflessness of your soul

That realizes it's true purpose!

So fly high...

And paint the sky

In the hues that you wish to see;

Paint it in the manner you would like it to be!

No mistake can ever be...

If you paint with passion and leave the rest to me!"
