They woke up to a bright blue sunny day. The warm sun hit their faces and the birds chirped as they flew over them.
Shan was the first one to open her eyes to the beautiful day, realizing that they were laying in a field.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes, not knowing what had happened.
Looking over, she nudged Dee.
"Hey, wake up." Shan coaxed, seeing their surroundings a bit clearer.
Dee yawned, rubbing her eyes. "Where are we?" She sat up on her elbows.
"I have no clue..." Shan studied the location. Although, there wasn't much to study. It seemed like they were in some big park. "What was the last thing you remember?"
"I remember you and me in the hallway... And then an earthquake... And now being... well, here." She squinted, seeing the same things Shan was.
"Wait... Are those beehives?" Dee said in shock. "I haven't seen anyone do that to their hair since Snookie and Amy Whinehouse."
"Look over there!" Shan pointed to an old truck going down the road. "Is that a milkman?"
They got up and brushed off their backsides, still observing their strange surroundings.
They walked off the grassy area and onto a sidewalk, where they earned strange looks from the women passing by with strollers and men with briefcases.
With each person they passed Dee and Shan studied them closely. Too closely for any normal persons liking, but it wasn't their fault. They were lost and confused.
Even if they did end up in 1991, no one dressed like this.
"Shan, we've gone back in time again." Dee said breathlessly, trying not to shout.
"The only question is...what time? And where are we...?" Shan squinted, looking for a clue.
"Look!" Dee pointed to a large metal sign that read 'Drink A Coke, ¢5 at your nearest soda pop shop in...'
"Gary Indiana!?" Shan basically yelled. Earning her some glares from passerbyers. "We're in the Gary!?"
"We did it." Dee gaped, breathlessly. "We actually did it. We went back in time, Shan!" She grabbed her friends shoulders. "It happened again!"
They freaked out, jumping and screaming until they started to attract attention.
"There's so much to do!" Shan said as they quickly walked down the sidewalk, not knowing what direction they were going. "Where do we even start?"
"I don't know," Dee said distractedly, "I know this isn't exactly the time for it, but aren't you just starving?"
Shan's stomach growled. "Yeah, I am." She agreed, surprising herself.
"Last time we went back in time we ate that entire pizza." Dee remembered. "Maybe time hopping has something to do with it."
"What is it about time travel that makes a person so hungry?" Shan quipped.
The two girls were so caught up in their conversation that they didn't even notice the police car following them until it came to a stop. The officer leaned out his window. "Excuse me, ladies, are you two lost?"
"No, sir, we aren't." Dee shook her head.
He gave them a funny look, staring at their outfits. "Uh... You sure? Two nice young women like you walking in Gary Indiana alone?"
