Mar'i's POV

I'm going back to Gotham.

I have no idea how to feel about this! When I was seven years old, I went once and met Daddy's brother Damian (although it didn't go well as Damian called me a witch and I threw him into the wall), but I haven't been there since I've been busy training in Blüdhaven with Daddy. I'm really good at gymnastics, even without flying, and I'm hoping to impress Daddy's family. Yes, even though I am only half Tamaranean, I can still shoot starbolts and fly, and I've also inherited super strength and the enhanced durability of the Tamaranean people, which is useful.

The doors opened and Daddy and I walked in, greeted by Alfred, the butler. He led us through the corridors to the dining hall, where the Waynes should be eating lunch. We walked down countless hallways, when I suddenly bumped into someone.

"-tt-Watch where you're going, Grayson spawn," Damian said, and patted his spiked-up hair. He glared at me with those jade eyes that seemed to pierce right through me.

I scowled at him. "Greetings, Uncle Damian."

His cheeks reddened and he stepped forward. "Don't call me Uncle Damian! I'm barely older than you, Grayson spawn. -tt-!"

Damian pushed me aside and started to walk away.

"Hey, be nice, Little D," Daddy chided.

Damian just growled at Daddy and continued walking.

Daddy sighed. "Sorry, Mar'i. Little D can be an annoyance sometimes."

More than an annoyance, I thought inwardly. A serious pain in the butt.

Dad tried for a smile. "Well, let's see if Jason and Tim are here, OK? They make you laugh, don't they?"

He held open the door to the dining hall for me... and promptly got hit in the face with a piece of flying steak. Daddy looked so funny that I giggled. Alfred appeared beside us. "Ah, Masters Tim and Jason are at it again. Let's leave them be. For now, Mistress Mar'i, follow me to your room. Master Dick, will you...?"

My dad shook his head. "Sorry, no can do. I have to go attend to an emergency back in Blüdhaven. Mar'i, take care of yourself, OK? Be good! I'll see you in a few weeks. Try not to piss off Bruce."

With that, he ran back where we came from and disappeared around a corner.

Oh, X'hal, my bedroom is fantastic! I have a walk-in wardrobe, a huge king-sized four-poster bed, a small bathroom, a study desk, a vanity, a bedside table, and a gigantic TV!! I think I'm going to pass out from excitement! After I'd arrived, I'd unpacked my things and stored them away exactly where I wanted, and discovered a few surprises Grandpa had prepared for me, such as a brand-new laptop, smartphone, headphones, a stationery set, and a notebook! I can't wait to show Dad all of this...

Damian's POV

The Grayson girl arrived today. Of course, Father had already warned us about her arrival, but I was unprepared for a half-Tamaranean. Her fully jade eyes without pupils gave her away immediately. Tt! Father should have gone into the details. Barbara will not be very happy to learn that her beloved has had a child with one of his former loves, a beautiful alien from another planet no less. Anyway, before dinner, I tried to sketch her, like I did for Father, Grayson, Todd and Drake, but for some reason unclear to me, I just cannot get her appearance and airs just right. This has never happened before, so I wonder why it would happen now.

I joined my family for dinner. It was a quiet affair, with rather delightful dishes from Alfred as always, until Drake started to talk about his recent discovery. It was very irritating, so I told him to shut up, but he was offended and we started arguing. Stupid Drake. Father grounded me for a month, but did nothing to punish Drake. Tt!

As I expected, Barbara was shocked and not very happy to hear the news, but she liked the Grayson girl, whose name is Mar'i. She only said that Grayson ought to have told her before, and she was glad that there was another member of the Bat-family. Tt! Mar'i has not even been in the manor for five hours.

And I she's going to stay here, I'll make sure she puts herself and her skills to good use.
