To say I was nervous would be an understatement. I was terrified. My hands were lightly trembling and my legs shook slightly. Today was our first live stage after our debut and I don't know why but my heart seemed to increase to double it's usual speed of even the thought of it. I was so busy in my own world, setting up situations that were very unlikely to happen, that I didn't even notice my name being called from afar. I was in a bubble, my own world, and everyone around me seemed distant.
''Youngmi! Yah, are you even listening to me?'' My eldest member yelled from the other side of the dressing room.
She was dressed in clothes that the stylist had uniquely picked out for her, fitting her body perfectly and matching our concept completely. I myself was wearing similar clothes to her, dark colours accentuating my fair skin. We were debuted with more of a hip-hop concept and we needed the clothes to match. ''Seriously, what's with you?'' She asked, taking a step closer.
I snapped myself out of my daze and turned towards her. It was clear she was slightly annoyed at my silence, her eyebrows were furrowed together and her nose was slightly scrunched; all things I've noticed she does when she's annoyed. ''I'm sorry, I was just daydreaming again.'' She nodded her head and turned towards the door.
''Okay. Well, we need to get going, we go on stage in fifteen minutes'' There it was again. My heart was pounding in my chest, so much that I was sure I could here it in my ears. I'm not usually a nervous person. I mean, I'm an idol, I shouldn't have time for nerves. That being said, I'm a new idol so it'll take me some time to get used to being live on national television for thousands of people to watch me if I make a mistake. Great, I thought my nerves couldn't get any worse.
Heaving a loud sigh, I exited the dressing room and made my way over to my other members. Each of them seemed to be completely fine, chatting to each other loudly and exchanging high-fives. ''What do you think, Youngmi-ah?''
I lifted my head to look up at Jisu. Her long dyed red hair was flowing down her back and her choppy bangs dangled just above her eyes. In her eyes were blue contacts- something the makeup artist had said would match her hair better than her usual dull-looking brown eyes. Just like the rest of us, she wore clothes that resembled that of a hip-hop style. Although she was the most feminine out of the five of us, she pulled off the concept well.
''Hm?''
''Do you like Got7's new song - they're performing right now'' She nodded her head towards the stage. I followed to where she was looking and, just like she had said, Got7 were dancing to the last part of their new song. They had had a comeback around the same time we debuted so we often bumped into each other due to our promotions being set at similar times. That and the fact that Jia Hui was friends with one of their members, Jackson. Despite being from different companies and them being our sunbaes, we were all actually quite good friends.
I nodded slowly. ''It's good'' was all I said before taking a deep breath and jumping on the spot a few times. I may not be experience at performing in front of large crowds like this, but I was sure of one thing that would calm my nerves and that was moving my body. It may sound odd, but to me it was something that calmed me down. Whether it be jumping on the spot or jiggling my arms, if I was moving my body and keeping myself busy, I'd calm down. I soon stopped after our leader - and oldest member - began her short speech.
''Okay girls, today we're going to go out there and kick some ass'' This was the only time that Areum would allow anyone, including herself, to swear. She was the type of person who didn't like it when people around her swore. So, every time one of the members would say a word she didn't like, she'd scold them. It almost made a smirk appear on my face hearing her use bad language. ''We're gonna show everyone who's boss and make all of our sunbaes proud! G.I.P, let me here you say it!''
