You wonder why so many hate themselves.
You know she's anorexic, just not why.
You know he self-harms, just not why.
She dreams of being a dancer,
to become a graceful blur.
But her dreams are stepped upon by those around her.
She stops eating, and society is confused.
"Just eat, its not hard. Why do you let yourself be abused?"
But she knows the reason, it surrounds us all.
Its the models, their perfect figures, light and small.
But what she doesn't know is they feel just the same.
They refuse to eat to keep their place on the front page.
So don't worry, young child, your dream can be fulfilled.
The boy who has a voice of gold,
considers himself unworthy.
For the singers he hears,
have had so many years
of practice, while he has had few.
But what he doesn't know, is they feel just the same,
for they feel depressed or lonely.
They self-harm quite the same, and wallow in shame.
For they think they need the center-stage fame.
So don't worry, young child, your dream can be fulfilled.
