My Old Friend

With my two hands I built him
A friend all of my own

A friend to keep me company
So that I was never alone

He ticked, he clicked, he clocked
Yes, he had his flaws

But he never told a lie
And his emotions were always raw

Abruptly one day I left
To start off my new life

A life without my creation
Like a husband without a wife

When I got bored eventually
I thought with curiousity

How was my old friend?
Was he alright without me?

I raced home to find
The friend that I once knew

Lying on the floor
With a note left in his shoe

"I waited for you to return
To say I wasn't left behind

Though I never saw your face
I guess that makes me blind

I want you to know despite
You leaving me in the dust

I will love you endlessly
My heart will never rust <3"
