Leslie's POV:
We walked down to our new office which was located on the same floor as Adam's old office. As we walked, many of the people, whether they were the interns or department technicians, greeted Adam with a smile or nod. I was astounded that someone who was the son of the CEO and had such a high position at a young age was down-to-Earth enough to socialize with interns.
My department head, Mr. Alex P., was the exact opposite. He is the son of some magazine editor or something and thinks he owns the people who work under him. We never got along and hardly agreed on anything we tried to do. Every time I walked in to bring him his morning coffee, he would complain about something I did wrong the other day or with the coffee. I am just really glad to not be in his clutches any longer.
I didn't know what Teresa looked like, but I assumed Adam knew her since he seemed happy that she was our secretary. He stopped in front of a brunette with blonde highlights who was giggling at something a muscular man was saying. Adam rapped on the glass door and she looked up, motioning for us to come inside.
"Hey bro, long time no see. This is Ms. Leslie Stephens, she will be our co-worker for the same position I -" He was cut off by Teresa excitedly jumping out of her seat.
"So she gets to stay in the apartment! Ooh, I can't wait to have someone else to decorate with! Hi, I'm Teresa by the way. This guy over here is David, he's our tech person."
"Hey, I'm much more than a tech guy. You of all should know that, Ter-Bear." David replied, wrapping his arm around Teresa.
I tried hiding the smile threatening to show itself at their cuteness. I glanced to my right and Adam's face betrayed him, a smile flickering onto it for a millisecond before morphing into a stern look,
"Please keep your personal lives separate from the workplace."
David's eyebrows raised up into his hairline and just gave him a smug look. It was the Sure buddy. I know you are doing that just for appearances look.
Adam gave him a flat look and opened a beautifully stained glass door leading to an office where two security guards were moving another beech wood desk next to the pre-existing one.
"Thank you." I squeaked out as the two burly men walked by me. Little did I know, that those two men would later be the same two that I talked to on lunch breaks 'cause I was bored.
"So, this is our office. You can take that desk over there since I know you like more sliding out drawer things. Whatever they're called." He told me, pointing to the new desk they had just dragged into the office. I nodded and plopped my bag down on the clean surface that would soon be covered in random things.
"This is the small office snack slash pantry that always smells like Starbucks. And this is what my dad was talking about. The apartment." He tells me with a flourish, punching a code in and swiping his company ID.Swinging the door open, my jaw drops.
