To love or not to love

A clever woman once said:
A happy marriage is about three things:
❤Memories of togetherness
❤Forgiveness of mistakes and
❤A promise to never give up on each other.

As a child I got the perfect example from my father,
drink yourself into a stupor
let six kids die of hunger
allowing my mother to work her fingers to the bone
he was no man, no father, no one you can rely on.

I learned while growing up, never trust a man
run from them while you can
they’re bad news
they only know of abuse
and drinking booze
you’ll see the bruise

Where are the memories of togetherness?
All I can extract from within is loneliness, emptiness and feel utter bitterness!

Forgiveness of mistakes…
What about the heartbreaks?
That’s not easy to forgive!
I can’t live and let live.

Promise not to give up on each other…
Before he died, she gave up, she could go on no further.
The monster had closed her mouth to smother.
At his grave a tear fell, one after the other.
Tears of happiness, we’re no longer to wither.

Then…
I met the most amazing imperfect perfect man.
He said: “You can love, yes, try it, you can.”
I wanted to be one,
and he said two is better than one,
when either of us fall, one can help the other get up.
All I could see was my mother on the floor and my dad drinking from his cup.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “We’ll find love’s strength in the Three in One.”
Just trust in the Son,
He teaches:
“Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.”

After all, I did find love.
True love.
It’s not all perfection,
but we have a good Connection.
Our two souls are one,
I no longer run.

So, to all you lovers out there,
A happy marriage IS about three things:
Memories of togetherness,
forgiveness of mistakes and
a promise to never give up on each other.

Remember,
“Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
and endures all things.

Love… Love never fails…”
