We left early the next morning to avoid the Wraiths. "Where are you taking us?" Frodo asked. Aragorn replied with some irritation, "Into the Wild." I could understand why he was annoyed. If I were in his shoes, I'd be irritated, too. As we kept walking, he kept looking back, whether to check on the hobbits or watching for Nâzgul, I couldn't tell. "How do we know this 'Strider' is a friend of Gandalf?" I heard Merry ask. "We have no choice but to trust him," Frodo told him.
"But where is he leading us?" "To Rivendell, Master Gamgee. To the house of Elrond," Aragorn replied. "Did you hear that? Rivendelle! We're going to see the elves!" Sam said excitedly. I felt a smile spread across my face. This is the best group I've had the pleasure to be in a long time, I thought to myself.
When Aragorn stopped to survey the path, he seemed to be deep in thought. I looked back to check on the hobbits, and saw Merry and Pippin unpacking a pan and some food. "Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall," Aragorn said, looking at the hobbits. "What about breakfast?" Pippin asked. "You've already had it." "We've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?" Aragorn just shook his head and continued on, saying to me, "Wait here with them." I nodded, watching him walk away. "Don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip," Merry said. "But what about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?" Pippin asked. "I wouldn't count on it." Suddenly, I saw an apple flying through the air and Merry caught it. He looked at it, patting Pippin's shoulder. Another apple hit Pip in the forehead. "Pippin!" Merry yelled. I started laughing, as Aragorn came back to us. "So that's what you were doing," I said. Aragorn nodded.
We kept walking for several more hours before Aragorn slowed down. I saw a ruin on top of a hill from a distance. "This was the great watchtower of Amon Sûl." I looked at it and saw where he intended to stop. Aragorn turned, as he then said, "We shall rest here tonight." We climbed up, and when we reached a wide, flat ledge, the hobbits dropped the bags they were carrying. I sat down as he looked out over the land around Weathertop. Aragorn knelt down next to a bag and pulled out a wrapped package. He handed each of the hobbits a single sword, as he said, "These are for you. Keep them close. I'm going to have a look around. Stay here." After he left, Merry drew the sword in his hand. Frodo looked at his uncertainly.
After a few hours, I went to the top of the ruins. I heard Merry and Sam's voices vaguely below. Then I heard Frodo yell, "What are you doing?!" "Tomatoes, sausages, nice crispy bacon," Merry said. "We saved some for you, mister Frodo," Sam said. Then Frodo said, "Put it out, you fools! Put it out!" "Aw, that's nice. Ash on my tomatoes!" Then I heard the shriek. They must've heard the hobbits yelling. I ran down to them and looked out. I saw five Wraiths walking through the mist. Frodo drew his sword, as he told us to go. I drew mine as well, following the four of them. Where is he? Where are you, Aragorn? I thought, turning back toward the way we came.
I felt a shiver go down my spine as the Wraiths appeared. They drew their blades and began to approach us. Sam took a leap of faith as he yelled, "Back, you devils!" His sword slammed into the first Wraith's sword. Then it just threw him aside. Merry and Pippin stood in front of Frodo and me, but were shoved aside. I readied myself, moving in front of the Wraiths, shielding Frodo. The Wraith attacked and I easily blocked it, backing away with Frodo behind me. The Wraith attacked again, but this time, it managed to get past my sword and cut my forearm. A different Wraith pushed me away from Frodo.
Frodo backed up as far as he could go before he tripped. The Wraith looked at him as it pulled out a dagger from within it's cloak. Frodo pulled out the ring and put it on. The Wraith could still see or sense him, because it stabbed what I thought was empty air. But I could feel the pain that Frodo was experiencing. Then out of nowhere, Aragorn lept in with a touch and his sword drawn. He waved the torch at the Wraiths as they shrieked. Frodo then reappeared with a bad wound. I stood up and went to him. I stayed next to him as Aragorn dealt with the Wraiths.
After the Wraiths all disappeared, Aragorn came over to us. "Strider! Help him, Strider," Sam said nervously. Aragorn picked up the knife that the Wraith had left behind. "He's been stabbed by a Morgul blade," he said as the blade turned to dust in his hand. "This is beyond my skill to heal," he said as he pulled Frodo up. "He needs Elvish medicine." He beckoned us to follow him. As we walked, we heard the Wraiths shriek. "Hurry!" "We're six days from Rivendell! He'll never make it!" Sam yelled. I knew he could be right, but that didn't stop Aragorn when he said, "Hold on, Frodo."
Well, that took forever! Sorry for the late updates, everyone! I will try to be more consistent with the chapter updates. So, until next time, peace out! Bye!
