It had been a few days since tryouts and the list for who made the team is supposed to be up today. I looked at the board but nothing was there so I headed to breakfast with Laura. We sat down with Kas and Jake and I held back my curiosity on who made the team. They had a paper in between them and I was guessing it was the list. "So have you guys decided on the team," Laura said nudging me.
Kas looked up from the paper and smiled at us. Then Jake said, "Actually, no we haven't we are trying to figure out the last chaser and beater." I tensed at the word beater.
"Who's your first beater?" Laura ask trying to get something out of them.
Jake glared at her, "You know we can't tell you that," he said glancing at me.
I looked back at Kas and he winked with a smile on his face. All my nervousness drained from my body and I felt my cheeks get a little warm.
After breakfast we went to our first class herbology with professor Nevil Longbottom. We're re planting mandrake roots and we have to wear ear muffs to protect ourselves from their cries.
Before Lunch Laura and I went to see if the list was up.
Chasers: Hannah Grate, Jason Marty, and William Harris
Beaters: Brittnie Deppen and Fredrick Harvey
Keeper: Kas Vessel
Seeker: Jake Vessel
I turned to Laura, "I made it! Laura, I really made it!" I hugged her and then we headed to lunch.
I tried not to smile when we sat down across from Kas and Jake.
"So did you see the list?" Kas asked nonchalantly.
I couldn't help but smile, "Yeah, I did."
Jake rolled his eyes. I heard flapping of wings when I looked up to see Barnard and other owls above us. Barnard dropped a letter infront of me then flew off to where he came from. It was from my brother.
Dear Brittnie,
Dad is furious that you did not come to him and that you're not going to Ilvermorny. He says you're a disgrace and I disagree. I advise you not to come home for Christmas even though I and the others would love you to. He does not seem to be letting up anytime soon. I'm sorry.
Love,
C.J.
I could feel the tears forming in my eyes. I got up before anyone could see me cry and I headed up to the Ravenclaw Dormitory. I heard Kas yell after me but I didn't stop until I felt someone's hand wrap around my arm. I looked back to see Kas with a concerned look on his face. "What's wrong?" He asked.
"It's nothing," I said trying not cry more than I already am. I wiped my eyes but it didn't seem to help.
"Brittnie, it's not nothing I can tell you're upset," he said. He still had his hand on my arm and I felt my cheeks get a little warm.
"Kas its family stuff and I don't feel like talking about it," I said shaking his hand off and walked away. This time he didn't come for me.
