(This was a story I wrote when we had free time in English. There is another part to it but I'll post that later.)

Hope’s orb, after sixteen years, was still dark. There were so many people at her school whose orbs have already lit up, but not hers. She always wondered why it’s been taking hers so long. Once somebody meets their true love, their orb lights up, so why hasn’t hers. She sometimes even questions the reality of it. Does true love even exist? Will she ever find “the one” as so many people at her school call it.

Hope walks into class and, as always, she can sense people judging her. She can hear the girls jeering at her in the back about her unlit orb, despite one of them having an unlit orb herself. “Hypocrite” Hope murmurs to herself. The class starts and ends, passing periods come and go, and her orb stays dim.

Maybe he just doesn’t go to this school, Hope thinks to herself. Maybe he lives halfway across the planet. If that was the case though, would her orb ever light up? Most people’s orbs connect with somebody near them though, which is what gets Hope so worried. “Don’t worry” her friends always told her, “you’ll meet him in time!” What if he doesn’t show up though?

Hope goes through the hall, doing her best to hide her orb. She sees the girls who always make fun of her from the back of the class. Hope makes sure to walk on the other side of the hallways, hoping that they won’t notice, but they did. She can sense them mocking her even though she’s looking away. As she passes the group one of the girls shove her and continue walking.

Hope gives her  look but then stops. Hope looks down at her orb, then back at the girls. They both lit up.
