Silence... That is what i have heard after i said those words. He was just looking at me - his eyes never leaving mine. His beautiful sunset colored eyes.
"Why do you ask?" he suddenly spoke. I was lost of words.
"I don't know, i'm sorry for asking. I have to go now." i stood up.
"Let me walk with you home." He offered as he stood next to me.
"No no, i'm fine you don't have to."
"No, i insist." He told me with a smile. I felt weird, like something was telling me i knew him, that i knew this guy. But i don't know why. We walked home -still wanting to ask him things but dared not to. 'I don't have an amnesia do i? i remember my past clearly so it's impossible that i have an amnesia.' i thought to myself while we were walking down the pavements, then i noticed a guy standing infront of our house.
"Cade? what are you doing here?" I ran towards him - forgetting that i am with someone.
"Where have you been? Don't you know that i was calling you? Do you want me to die of worry?!" he angrily told me as he looked at my back.
"I'm sorry, i didn't mean to make you worry. I just thought that it would be nice to grab some fresh air. Don't worry i'm with-" and i was cut short when i saw no one behind me. 'Where did he go?' i looked around but saw no trace of the guy i was with.
"Cas you shouldn't be walking around with that kind of state of mind." he spoke to me again.
"but i swear i was with someone..." i slowly whispered.
"Never mind, let's get you inside, i'm sure your mother is waiting for you to arrive." He said as he opened the door of our house. He visits us often here, that's why he feels like a part of our family already.
"Oh my, what a lovely visit. Did you bumped into each other while you were walking dear?" my mom greeted us with a smile.
"Yes i thought that i'd go for a visit as well. To check if cas is doing fine. I guess her 'fever' was down." cade answered - emphasizing the word fever while looking at me. I just raised my eyebrows as he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. I don't really get this guy, one moment he was so worried and then the next he's like annoyed at me.
"Why don't you join us with dinner then? Laylah is preparing for it, i'm sure she'll be glad." My dad added.
"Thank you, i'll be glad." cade replied.
"I'm going to help mom with the preparation, you can have a talk with dad if you want to or whatever." i told cade as me and my mom entered the kitchen. We were cutting the vegetables when mother suddenly asked me.
"So, Is there something between you and cade?" i blushed and looked at her with surprise.
"Mom! we're not like that." i hissed while she laughed lightly.
"Laylah! Can you come here for a moment, love." I heard dad called my mom.
"oh my, seems like someone is going to ask for my daughter's hand." she giggled.
"Mom, i'm still on college you know!" i can't help but to laugh with her. She went to see what dad was going to say so i continued chopping the vegetables. 'I can do this easily, no sweat.' I told myself as I took hold of the cooking utensil. It was easy as I thought it would be. I hummed while chopping when a shadowy figure pass the window in front of me. I felt something weird but I ignored it. 'Maybe it was the wind? Or maybe it was just my imagination.' Then I suddenly remembered the incident with sonneillon. A feeling of nervousness rush through me as I hold the cooking utensil tighter.
'What do we have here? A pretty little lad lost inside of wonderland.' Someone whispered.
'Relax cas. You're just imagining things. Relax.' I began to sweat.
'Relax? Do that sweetheart. You need to relax. You don't have to do anything. Just relax and sleep. Isn't that wonderful?' he whispered again - voice soft but venomous.
'Are you sonneillon?' I asked, not looking at my back. I'm scared - no, I'm frightened. I don't want to experience that incident again.
'Sonneillon? No dear Castielle. I'm not him. Why don't you see for yourself?' he whispered again. I slowly turn around while the utensil slipped through my hand - place changing while I turned my attention towards him. He was right, he is not sonneillon. But who is he?
'I am cresil, sweetheart. It's so nice to finally be able to meet you. No wonder infernum and coelum is so engrossed with you, that scent flowing from your veins is so enticing - so unique and powerful.' He smiled. He was sitting at a red couch. I noticed that this place is dim and the furniture are all dark colored. Most likely black and red. He has a short brown hair, eyes like ash as they stare sleepy at me. He wore a poorly fixed tux and pants. His suit was open showing his collarbone.
'Why don't you come near me sweetheart? Are you afraid?'
Am i afraid?
I don't know.
'Don't worry, I won't do anything harsh. I just want to rest next to you. We can sleep all day long. No need to be tired. Come.' He said with soft tone, reaching out his hand to me. I unconsciously walked towards him - eyelids starting to feel a little heavier than usual. I yawned and closed my eyes, hands extended towards his when...
"Liana!" I shut open my eyes and winced when I touched the burning stove. Dad pulled me as mom extinguished the fire. Cade looked around with anger in his eyes.
"Damn, we missed again." Cade cursed under his breath.
"Words cade." Mom looked at him then at me.
"You almost burned your whole hand, dear. You should be more aware." She said with a worry expression.
"O-ok. I'm sorry." I told them, tears building up on the corner of my eyes and the next thing I knew cade was holding me as I cry. I hugged him tighter and repeatedly asked for forgiveness. Mom rub my back as dad patted my head softly. we were just standing there -Comforting words are being whispered to me. I stopped crying after a while and thanked them. Dad offered me water, which i gladly accepted. Cade and i sat at the couch - our meal long forgotten. He was about to stand up when i absentmindedly grab a hold of his shirt - effectively halting him.
"What?" He asked. I clutched his shirt tighter and looked down - not a single word coming from me. 'Why did i even stop him? It's not like he's going to stay if i ask him to... right? Because what am i to him? i mean, i'm not that important to him, i'm just a friend, or a sister like to him right? So why would he stay if i ask him to? Why would i ask him to stay?'
"Castielle..." i looked at him - he barely uttered my name but it felt like it was the first time he ever called me out. He sounded sincere.
"S...stay." i whispered - unable to meet his gaze. He tensed up for a while. 'What if he reject my request? What if he doesn't want to? What if-'
My thoughts were cut short when i felt him moving closer to me. He was holding me - securing me around his arms - and i don't know why but i'm thankful for that.
"Oh, cade. Are you staying in for the night?" My mom asked as she settle down some apples at the mini table in front of us.
"Yes, i hope it's not a bother for you Mrs. Lewis."
"Of course it's okay cade, It's already dark outside. Heaven knows what danger is lurking outside." Mom told him as he smiled at her as she left.
"You can sleep if you're tired and i know you are." He whispered to me as he started stroking my hair - a new found gesture from him. I moved closer to him, feeling the warmth and hearing his heartbeat.
"Thank you cade." I mumbled. He encircled his arms around me, making sure that no one will hurt me.
"You don't have to be afraid, i'll protect you - no matter what it cost me, i'll protect you." I heard him told me as i slowly drifted to sleep.
