"Here we are." Dorothy Gestured half-heartedly to the shell of Oz that was left after the start of the rebellion. The once shinning city filled with wonder and magic reduced to abandoned castles and filthy streets. The only sense of magic left was in the bustling wilderness beginning to creep in to the once filled streets. Now, Charlie and Dorothy sat in the towering woods, large oaks boxing them in like walls. Birdsong echoed loudly around them.
"It looks..." Charlie glanced towards Dorothy for what to say. This was her kinda-home, she didn't want to upset her.
"Horrible?" Dorothy responded duly. "You'd be right."
Charlie blushed with the sudden praise. "I'm way too gay for this." She thought to herself. "Sure go with the cute girl on her magical dream quest. Easy as pie. I really didn't think this through."
"Charlie?" Dorothy asked, breaking Charlie from her thought. "You know you mutter when you think to yourself right?" A red hue creeped over Dorothy's face.
"Oh." Charlie muttered, turning her attention to the bare dirt below her. She kicked away a piece of trash at her feet. "I-I.... Sorry." Charlie looked straight ahead on the path and started walking, not waiting for Dorothy to catch up.
"C-Charlie! Don't go that-"
A blaring screeching noise erupted from seemingly everywhere. It sounded like a dying bird amplified to a thousand. Charlie's first instinct was to cover her ears and shut her eyes tightly. What the hell? The ground beneath Charlie began to shake violently in a rhythm. Thump. Drag. Thump. Drag. Charlie's shaking knees gave out and she fell to the ground. Charlie didn't dare open her eyes for what might be in front of her.
"Charlie!" Dorothy screamed. Suddenly the ground stopped shaking. Maybe it was gone? Maybe it hadn't seen Charlie? Charlie began to open her eyes when she smelled it. The hot breath of the thing in front of her, it smelled like rotting meat.
A growl erupted from the creature. Charlie peaked up at her attacker. As soon as she did, she wished she hadn't. This thing was nearly as tall as a four story building, it was covered in smiley scales and had so many sets of eyes and mouths it would take a week to count the exact number.
"What are you doing here human. This my territory." The creature spoke from one of its mouths. "Who sent?" The creature got so close to Charlie's face she nearly gagged. It wasn't any better looking up close. "Baein don't like your kind in territory."
Dorothy ran out from her hiding place in the bushes with an old fashioned pistol. But, it was no use, the monster picked Dorothy up before she could even aim and held her upside down by her left leg.
"Please don't eat us." Charlie cowered in a ball like a four year old. "We're just passing through..." Charlie's voice cracked and she tried to hold back tears. I'm gonna die. I haven't even lived that long and but more importantly I haven't finished The Lord of The Rings yet and I haven't even gone on a real quest with a cute bad-ass girlfriend.
The monster set Dorothy down quickly and scooped up Charlie as well as 6 feet of dirt below her. He pressed her to his damp, slimy, utterly gross skin. A big water droplet soaked Charlies face and hair. Was it raining?
"D-Don't cry human." The monster sniffled. "When Baein see cry, he-... he-" The monster erupted into sobs and crushed Charlie against him. Water-bucket tears crashed to the ground all ground her some even falling straight on her. She was drenched head to toe in seconds. Charlie placed her hand on his damp, gross skin and tried to comfort him. Oh god this is so gross.
"It's okay... Baein." She patted him and when she look her hand away green ooze dripped from her hand. She gagged but if she could sweet talk her way out of being eaten...
"Human not sad?" Baein sniffed.
"I'm not sad." Charlie couldn't help but giggle. This monstrous, evil looking thing was so worried about her. It was hilarious, but it's kinda hard to laugh when you could be eaten and killed at any second.
"Well...."
