"There we go." Lily announced proudly, putting down the hog brush. She had successfully completed her beautiful painting of her lord, Jesus Christ, under the watchful and dextrous eye of Ash, with one day left before the interest hunt exhibit. She smiled proudly to herself. Maybe it didn't look too fantastic, but she thought it looked decent.
"Looks passable." Ash commented. "Good job." He patted her on the back lightly. "I think it would have been cooler if you painted something not so religious."
"What do you mean?" Lily frowned.
"You know, I mentored you." He cringed at the painting. "This doesn't look so good on my name." He laughed to himself. "But it's beautiful, and you know why?"
"Why?"
"Because it came from your heart." He placed one finger on his chest, where his heart would be and smiled down at her. Her violet eyes sparked like amethysts and he was tempted to kiss her a congratulations. He stopped himself. "I'd ruin it if I could, though."
"Shut up." Lily rolled her eyes. "Stop hating on the lord."
"You're right. I should ruin you instead." He winked, wiggling his torso.
"Grow up." She couldn't help but laugh. "Did you finish your poem yet?" She asked while carrying the brushes and palette to the sink.
"Yeah. Last night." He announced proudly.
"Can I read it, then?" She asked him.
"No. It's a surprise." He tried to hide his smile. He looked at Lily's painting while she washed up and he covered it carefully. For an amateur trying her luck, it turned out pretty decent. Maybe because he walked her through it. He stepped back and eyed Lily this time. Truly the artist of art was a masterpiece herself, in his eyes. She was dressed in a maroon skirt, with a grey cardigan tucked into it and a nice belt on. Her hair was up in a bun and she would subconsciously tuck a few stands behind her ear while he watched her.
"Hey." A voice behind him caught his attention and he turned to see the smiling face of a gorgeous blonde. She was in a black wrap around dress and wore smoky eyeshadow. Her hair was let loose and she was wearing a pair of sunglasses, which she took off to reveal two sapphire orbs. She flashed him a pearly white smile straight off the billboards...Wait a minute...He thought. She is from the billboards. "I'm Hecate Lambert. Couldn't help but notice how deliciously gorgeous you looked." She said in a low voice with a wink. She put both of her hands on the collar of his button down grey shirt and toyed around carelessly.
"I'm..." Ash shifted uncomfortably. He knew all Lily had to do was turn around to see him in this position – and he would never get her back. He put both hands on Hecate's to slowly remove them from his collar. "Kind of busy." He said to the blonde slowly.
"Don't be like that!" Hecate pouted. Ash began to feel strange. For the first time, he didn't want to bury himself inside a girl who was so willingly giving it to him.
Before he could say another word, Lily walked past them in a hurry, grabbing her bag and rushing out.
"Crepitus mecum in in dolium." Ash cursed to himself before pulling himself free and sprinting off after Lily. Hecate watched in a daze as he rushed off. She could feel a sort of anger build up inside her.
"What are you looking at?!" She snapped at two campers who had turned to watch the drama. They immediately dropped the instruments and hurried out. Alone in the cabin, Hecate turned her attention towards the covered canvas.
Outside, Ash ran after Lily as fast as he could, calling out to her. He managed to catch her right before she entered her cabin and he tugged at her arm to turn her around. She gasped and widened her eyes when she came face to face with him, only a few inches separating the two. The sun was setting and the sky was painted in hues of orange and purple. There was a chilly breeze running through the camp grounds but otherwise, the entire sky was clear. The only sound near the cabin was the rustling of leaves and the quick beat of her loud heart.
"Why'd you run off." He asked her, eyes full of worry. "You didn't even say good bye or anything."
"You looked pretty busy to me, working on your new catch." Her words stung as she broke free from his grasp and glared at him. His frown disappeared and he stared at her, wide eyed. "What's the matter?" She feigned surprise. "Tired that little miss virgin won't sleep with you already?!" He didn't reply. "Well, here's some news for you." She jabbed him in the chest with a cruel finger. "This virgin, isn't going to give it to you."
"Lily..." He tried to protest.
"I bet you already knew that." She snickered to herself sadly. "I should have known." She turned back to him. "A guy like you, can never wait for a girl like me." She turned back to her cabin door and tried to open it. She was almost inside when he grabbed her hand again.
"It's not like that. I promise." He pleaded. "I'm not a liar, Lily. I wish you'd see that."
Lily broke free from his hold again. "I need some time." She grumbled before closing the door in his face.
