To help celebrate #OneYearofWattmag , some of the team has gathered together to share their favorite parts of being part of the magazine, things they've learned, and some of their most valuable experiences. Check out what was said below!
RachaelMole: Fun, though challenging to have to read a new book each month and review it on top of uni work, I can honestly say this past year with Wattmag has been great! It's so lovely to chat with people in the comments who are genuinely interested to hear my opinion about a book, while being surrounded by talented writers who make me want to strive to be better in my own writing! Bring on another year!
StonyRhodes: Grateful! Hanging with you gems has positioned me to live the life I desire and deserve. It gave me more confidence, inspired me to complete my Technical Writing Certification (Fall 2017), allowed me to grow as an artist and entrepreneur, and (drumroll please) encouraged me to believe in myself and my abilities. I attended an online webinar called Speak and Write to Make Millions, and only applying one principle so far has gotten me two ghostwriting and several editing opportunities. I'd say stepping out on faith and submitting my very first article was a game-changer. I just had no idea how much until now. My Wattpad Experience continues, and each of you have played an important role, as well as each and every reader (especially, those who comment). Onward march! Here's to another anniversary!
ajwinterbooks: Though I've only been a part of a few issues so far, I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I enjoy writing about things in my writing life I never thought of. I'm also extremely grateful that I'm not the only one who is obsessed with organization!
bonbonsandbooks: I started on Wattpad in 2013 a friend invited me. I was nervous not sure what to even write at first, but Wattpad helped me gain friends as well as confidence. I get asked about advice on writing, so this group was a great idea to help other wattpaders. I never missed being an a issue. I'm proud of the mag & the group. Even if we are helping just one or many writers who feel the way I once did, I consider that a very rewarding outcome for all this. I thank DorothyLydia_ and our great team of talented writers! Let's hope to look back on 2 yrs to 3 to maybe 10 who knows right? Anything is possible - look how far we have come!
DorothyLydia_: And I thank YOU, Dalaina! I know I can always count on you to get an article up every month and you've been an absolute delight to work with! I can't wait to read more of your future work.
KevinaOyatedor: I have to say it's been awesome! Not only to write up an article but to to read the magazine as a whole from you all you amazing writers. Though I do get a bit stressed for picking a topic, when I finally do it's one of the most fun to share and gets me excited to discuss my thoughts and ideas. More years to come!!
Sheena726: I am one of the staff writers that was brought in at the end of last year, so I've been writing for Wattmag for six months. When I sent in my application, I didn't think I would get accepted, nor did I think I would love writing articles this much. Wattmag has given me the opportunity to write about my innermost thoughts, things that I never share with the people around me. "Life Lessons: Quiet" was one of those topics that were brewing in my mind for a long time and wanted to share. I always thought that people wouldn't understand or care. But when I finally took the step to wrote it for Wattmag and saw the positive feedback, it felt soooo good to know I wasn't alone and that I gave some helpful information to those like me. I am so grateful for the platform I have on Wattmag, and I plan on sticking around until the end.
DBalWrites: I've had an amazing experience writing here on Wattmag, and it's also been a great learning process too. Each month I get to write an article that touches a different aspect of writing, and this not only helps the readers improve their craft but also myself as most of the topics I research are just as new to me.
I also love to hear feedback from readers, their experiences and what they gained from the article. It really makes everything worthwhile!
Happy Anniversary Wattmag!!!
TeaceFindlay: Meeting a deadline has never been such a more beautiful thing to me. Though a task sometimes with trying to figure out what to wow you readers with, I fully enjoy the experience. Since my first piece in the November issue, I've found that, I not only enjoying writing stories but I enjoy expressing myself in short works a lot more. Wattmag has given me a gateway to connect with even more people on a different level than I would've been able to on my own and for that, I am eternally grateful. I really am happy that Dorothy started this wonderful project and for us dedicated writers, that we've been able to keep it running for a year.
Thank you guys so much for allowing Wattmag to stay alive with your thoughtful comments and consistent interaction with us writers! I look forward to continuing to write to you guys!
DorothyLydia: I was so happy to have you join the team, Teace! You've be an amazing addition and I look forward to reading your writing every month! :)
CCGillings: Writing for Wattmag has been super swell!! You guys are an amazing bunch. School got in the way for a bit as it has a tendency to do but with freedom comes more writing. Happy anniversary Wattmag and definitely a big thank you to the Boss in Chief for putting us all together. Vogue Editor anyone? Lol
RachaelMole: Finally, the Wattmag team would like to say a huge thank you to Dorothy, for all of her hard work! It's not easy keeping a lively bunch like us in check but she manages it while being a brilliant editor and a lovely person.
Without her would we would not congregate here each month to share our writing and talk books, reading, culture and life experiences. It takes a special sort of person with an extraordinary drive to put this together in her own time each month. So, thank you!!
DorothyLydia_: STOP IT, I'M ABOUT TO START CRYING. I adore every single one of you and none of this would have been possible if it weren't for all your hard work and incredible content. Thank you for hitting those pesky deadlines, always coming up with new ideas to write about, and for being such an awesome team. And once again, a massive THANK YOU to all who continue to read and comment on our issue. We see you regular readers out there and love it when you comment. Happy anniversary to us all!
