Flashback to First Grade

So we've all had those moments that never made sense when we were younger and make us laugh now.

Whenever I think of those, a particular one from my first grade year comes to mind.

And it really is the reason I try to pronounce things "correctly" cause English is weird.

So in this memory of mine... well it'd be easier to just SAY it(you'll get the pun if you continue reading.)

So whilst reading a book(I think it was... Rainbow Fish... idek) we got to the word "says." The teacher says that it's not pronounced "say-s". Like not Say then an S sound.

The VERY NEXT DAY we had a substitute and I'm pretty sure you can guess what happened.

She pronounced it the SAME EXACT WAY we were taught NOT to.

None of us said anything we just kinda.. questioned her mentally...
