Blue Eyes

It was five years ago, when I,

Katniss Everdeen thought I was going to die.

I was lying against a tree branch.

Admiring the sky view? No, half-dead.

I have not eaten for days.

My only source for survival?

The torrents of rain cascading from the sky.

So I layed there and stared.

Humming a lullaby, eyes slowly closing.

Opposite me was the baker’s shop.

A boy, taller than me, slightly older than me.

Much healthier than me was feeding the pigs.

The pigs mocked me as they were handed out free food.

My stomach rumbled. The thunder crackled.

The boy looked up.

Those eyes. Those pale, Caribbean blue eyes.

Those beautiful eyes met my lifeless gaze.

His ears perked.

A woman’s loud screeching voice boomed from the baker’s.

Those eyes soften. He picked up the last bread.

He threw at me. Those eyes nudging me to take it.

He ran in and I found myself missing those blue eyes.

I crawled towards it. Each step burned.

I bit the pain and grabbed the bread.

It was moist from the rain.

A dark shade of brown and black.

It did not matter.

I devoured the bread hungrily.

Each piece was a slice of heaven.

I looked up, thanking god.

The rain stopped. Everything was silent.

I could still see those blue eyes amidst the somber setting.

I breathed in and knew I would be all right.

Poetry is something new im trying out, Please no hate!(: Sorry for the mistakes. Its one of my first poems-believe it is called narrative poetry. I'm trying. Thanks! Inspired from well, The hunger games. From Book 1, the repreated flashbacks the Katniss has. So credits to them!(:
