I stood in front of the mirror, sighing loudly. Why did I have to wear a dress like this? It was just a stupid party my mom was making me go to in the first place. It was at this fancy building designated just for parties, in a huge ballroom. I didn't even know the name of it. There was a disco room, multiple ballrooms, and plenty of other places. Easily the largest building in town. I'd never been personally, but I had some friends that had been once. They would be here to pick me up in a few minutes seeing as they were my ride.
The party was some charity thing. For every ticket sold they would donate so much to some organization of their choice. My mom had purchased me a ticket and was making sure I got the full experience. My eyes trailed back to the dress she had bought. It hugged to my skin tightly, and was a light aqua color. It clung to my chest and hips tightly until it flared out at my thighs. Then it ended. It was beautiful for sure, but i'm not sure it was for me. Both the front and back dipped down in a v shape, which meant the top of my chest and half of my back were bare.
Oh well. I could just hide in the corner all night, hopefully. I put on the basics of makeup, just some foundation and eyeliner. Not wanting to style my hair, I left it down, hoping it would cover some of me. I was still looking in the mirror when I heard the doorbell ring, it made me jump.
"Coming!" I made my way downstairs as quickly as I could in the white platforms I had on. I might have almost fallen once, let's just hope the ballroom is stair free. My closest friend, Olivia, squealed when she saw me. She had brought along her friend Spencer, we had only met a few times.
"Ohmygoodness! You look fantastic, why would you not want to wear this?!" Spencer smiled at me sheepishly.
"She's not wrong, you know. You look great Hera." I blushed a little, it was cute when he smiled.
"Thank you both, but it's not my style. I'm more of a jeans and a shirt kind of girl." Olivia spoke up again.
"Well, doesn't matter. Let's go." She grabbed my hand and practically dragged me to Spencer's car. Everything was actually going okay on the way there until Olivia started talking about the career fair we had almost a month ago. "Oh, Hera, I never got to ask you. Did your group go to the hospital for that career thingy? Because ours did, and the doctor that showed us around was a real h-o-t-t-i-e!" She kept going on, despite the uncomfortable look on Spencer's face. "His name was Dr.Urie. I think i've heard of him before, but I didn't know he was that sexy. He was young too, only twenty three!" As much as I didn't want to talk about Brendon, I couldn't just ignore her.
"Yeah, Ms.Anderson was flirting with him like crazy."
"Omg, seriously? That's hilarious. Someone should have videoed it."
I changed the subject and began talking to Spencer as he drove, and the rest of the car ride went smoothly. Hopefully tonight won't go too horribly wrong. When we finally got there one thing became painfully obvious, the place was packed to the brim with people. Lovely. After maybe forty five minutes of waiting we actually made it inside the building. It smelled of alcohol and sweat, not nearly as classy as I had imagined it would be. The first one to go was Olivia, claiming she would get us all drinks and come back.
I stood in one of the less crowded areas with Spencer, making small talk with him. The conversation slowly picked up and actually became quite interesting after a while. Maybe the party would go better than I had expected. Not to mention that Spencer had the kind of face that you could stare at forever. He was just adorable. I hated to leave him as well, but I really really had to pee. Who knows how long it would take for me to find the bathroom in this place.
