CHAPTER 3: The Creep

The first week of treacherous school was finally over. Natalie, Mya, Jonah, and I were sitting in the courtyard eating lunch. "Favorite teacher, anyone?" Natalie asks. "Probably Mrs. Jorgensen, the math teacher." I say stirring the ice in my drink around. "I like her too, but for me, it would have to be Mr. Payne, you know, the history teacher. He's really lit and gives our class candy a lot." Mya states confidently. "I like Mr. Payne, too. My least favorite teacher, besides Tornado, is the English teacher, Mrs. Syrus."
"Same." I say. "I'll be right back. I'm going to get more water." I walk to the cafeteria.

Before I could open the cafeteria door, a hand pulls me into an empty classroom. "Who are you?" I ask the boy with dirty-blonde hair, glasses, and a lot of acne. "I'm Thomas." "Why'd you drag me into an empty classroom?" I ask. "You're pretty and I was going to try and, uh, kiss, you." He gives me his interpretation of a seductive face, which looked more like he was constipated, and winked.

First of all, I would like to point out, he's ugly as hell, and he's even creepier than the classroom we were standing in. There was no way I would to anything. And if he did anything, I'd go to the principal for harassment.

He began walking closer to me, making me hit the wall behind me. I tried looking for something I could battle him with, but no luck. I would just have to use my fists. As he slowly stepped closer to me, the door of the classroom harshly opened and Eli strode in, "Okay! What girl are you harassing today, Tom?" When he looked at me he got really angry, "What the hell are you doing with my friend?!" Eli punches Thomas straight on the nose and drags me out of there.

"I'm sorry about Tom. He's creepy. Every day, he takes in a different girl to harass, to make them think that he's even slightly attractive." Eli smiles at me. I stare at him for a couple seconds, then say, "Oh my god! Thank you for saving me! You're my night in shining armor." I give Eli a peck on the cheek, which surprised him, and ran off to my friends. He stood there for almost five minutes holding his cheek.

My friends had been watching everything that happened. "You kissed Eli!" They started screeching like fangirls. "Oh come on, it was just a little one on the cheek." I say rolling my eyes. "You two are in love!" Natalie says in a singsong voice. "He saved you from Thomas! Only someone who cared about you would do that." Mya explains holding my hands. "I'm not in love with Eli. He's just a friend that's a boy." I mumble.

"Oh, shut up!" Jonah yells. "You should totally ask him out." Everyone nods, "Don't you think it's too soon? I mean I've only known him for a week! What if he's, like, a rapist or something?" I say. Mya looks at me, "Are you kidding me? He's the nicest boy in school!  I've been here at Delantra for five years. I think I'd know him. He doesn't spread rumors, he's only had one girlfriend, and he was super nice to her. She just broke up with him to be with Thomas's twin brother, Aaron. He's a jock."

"People say that he's actually murdered a few students." Natalie says secretly. I choke on my own saliva. "Who was the girl?" I ask. "Her name was Coco. She's totally changed since Aaron dated her. She turned from 'the nice girl who doesn't have a phone' to the 'cliche popular girl that spreads rumors everywhere'." Jonah says.

"That sucks. It must be really hard for Eli." I say. "See? You're worrying for him! That means that you care about him and you should go on a date." Mya says grinning. "Okay! This conversation is over! I'm going back to my dorm now. Please don't bring this up again unless absolutely necessary." I say, leaving the table and walking to our dorm.
Maybe I'm warming up to him, but I don't know if he'll except me for who I am. I thought to myself as I walked.
