{Misty's POV}
It's been a while since I met Ash in battle. This feels so nostalgic, I'm so excited!

It was my Spheal vs. Ash's Hawlucha. I don't know much about it, but judging by its cape-like wings, it's likely part Flying-type.

Ash attacked first. Typical Ash. His battling style has always focused on speed and offense. I remember his strange and ridiculous on-the-spot 'strategies'. He'd miraculously wipe the floor with his opponent. He doesn't win every battle, and some of his losses were some of the stupidest things I've ever seen, but underestimating Ash would've been even stupider.

"Hawlucha, use Karate Chop!" A Fighting-type move? That's bad news for Spheal, who's an Ice-type. Weak against Fighting-types.

I welcome the challenge.

"Block it with Ice Ball!" A sphere of ice is made at the tip of Spheal's nose, before being launched at Hawlucha, who ends up chopping the ice instead of Spheal.

"Spheal, Aurora Beam!"

"Really? That trick again?" Hearing Ash's words, I roll my eyes. Ash, how can you be that dense? Does he really think the only reason Spheal uses Aurora Beam is to freeze the ground?

I smirk, as the attack hits Hawlucha straight on. Ash is shocked.

Our Pokemon continue launching attacks at each other. I've realised Hawlucha knew mostly Fighting-type moves.

"Hawlucha, build up speed by running!" Ash yells. I think I know what he's up to. I travelled with him though two regions after all. "Now, High Jump Kick!" I knew it.

"Spheal, dodge it with Rollout!" Spheal successfully dodges, then rolls back to attack. Unfortunately, it couldn't land a hit, since it can't keep up with its speedy opponent. Spheal definitely deserves a snack after this battle. It really loves eating, like a baby. Like Ash too.

Something nagged me at the back of my mind though. The word 'Flying' keeps lingering in my head for some reason.

Then it clicked. Some Pokemon have signature moves and abilities that can tip the scales of a battle. I connected the dots a second too late though.

"Hawlucha, use Flying Press!" Before I could react in time, Hawlucha had launched itself high into the air, before landing on my beloved Clap Pokemon. That attack caused it great damage, its HP almost completely gone. I could hear it whimper in pain, and I felt a sob coming out of my mouth.

The battle's getting real tough. It had started out really well too, until I realised how awful the matchups were in my favour.

I snap back into reality, and I see Spheal struggling to get up. A harsh gasp escaped my lips, determination filling my lungs and soul with every breath. I'm not giving up now, and neither is Spheal.

"C'mon Spheal, get up! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!" My little Water & Ice-type Pokemon looks at me and nods. There is a flash of bright light, and everyone shield themselves from the blinding light, including me. I open my eyes to reveal my newly evolved Sealeo. It was no longer my little Ice&Water baby. No, it's stronger now, and I'm so proud to have met and befriended Spheal. No, Sealeo now.

Even though Spheal evolved into Sealeo, that doesn't mean I've won yet. I still had a last trick I could try, but I haven't practiced it enough for it to work. Still, it has to work. With Sealeo's newfound strength, my determination to win, which was even bigger now, and our cooperation, I think we can pull it off. Here goes nothing!
