Clary stood on the stage completely lost for words... Her and Johnathan had never been separated their entire lives, she didn't know life without him. She felt tears well up in her eyes as she watched everyone pool out of the hall, everyone except the Lightwood family, which included the bloody blonde angel boy whose nose she couldn't wait to break, and Pangbor. Keeping back the tears, refusing to look weak, Clary turned to look at her older brother and found that he had the exact same expression on his face and she did, complete and utter shock and fear.
"Time to get your stuff together and say your goodbyes" a voice said from beside her, she didn't bother to check who it was, all she cared about right now was her brother. Slowly her and Johnathan trailed back to the rooms they had originally woken up in and collected their things, which only consisted of their weapons and steles from hunting the night before, every thing else had been burned in the fire. Clary stood in the small room for a few moments trying to process what had just happened, trying to let it sink in that she wouldn't be seeing the only family she had left for Angel knows how long. A quiet knock on the door pulled her from her thoughts and back to reality. Putting on a stern face she opened the door ready to shout at whoever had the nerve to disturb her but she didn't get a chance because as soon as she opened the door her big brothers arms wrapped her in a strong hug.
"I'm so sorry this happened Clare bear. I don't want to leave you I'm so sorry, so so so sorry"
Clary quickly dropped her belongings and wrapped her arms right around her brothers neck.
"It's not your fault J, it's not, angel knows I'll miss you but who knows it might not be that bad" she knew she was lying, it was going to be awful, whenever she had a problem she went to John, if she needed a training partner Johnathan was there, if she needed someone to shout out when she was getting stressed, J was always there, not that he had a choice... but still.
"Plus it's not like it's forever, you will be 18 in January, thats only 9 months away, and then you are legally an adult and you can become my guardian" Clary knew she was stretching the little positivity act she was putting on for her brother, 9 months was a long time after 16 years of never being apart. Suddenly the girl, Isabelle, turned up at the door and announced that it was time to go, the two siblings looked at each other both knowing that the next 9 months were going to be the hardest of their lives, but with a knowing glance they made a promise to be strong, and never show weakness, just like their father had taught them... their father... "stay together, you need each other", her fathers words kept echoing in her head but she shook it off and they slowly walked back towards the main hall. When they got back to the huge hall a portal was already open with the lightwoods standing in front of it, Isabelle and her,who clary guessed was her brother, looked sympathetically towards Clary was she walked towards them and away from her best friend, Angel boy however looked quite impatient but Clary didn't let it bother her. Turning towards her brother one last time the small red head slowly backed into the portal but instead of the usual 'whoosh' she would usually hear going through a portal all Clary heard was her fathers last words "you need each other"

*********
When Clary and the lightwood family came out of the other side of the portal the short Morgenstern quickly looked around to take in her new surroundings and she had to admit they were beautiful, tall walls covered in old paintings surrounded her, there were doors all around obviously leading to other rooms. It was obvious she was in the New York institute, it probably looked like all of the other institutes all over the world so to any other shadow hunter it wouldn't be that amazing of a sight, but clary wasn't like the others clary and her brother had always been kept in one place, had never seen other places before. Before she could take in the beauty of the rest of the huge building however, Clary got distracted by an agonising pain in her chest, right by her heart, she quickly steadied herself on a nearby wall and bit her lip so that she didn't scream, her new house mates looked at her in worry, Isabelle went over to see what was wrong but once the Raven haired got to her the pain was already subsiding and Clary was already straightening herself out. Clearing her throat slightly she said
"Which one is my room?, slowly Isabelle's mother pointed to a wooden door to the right of her looking at clary with a confused expression. Once identifying the room that would be hers for for the next 9 months clary quickly grabbed her stuff and sternly walked towards the door without a second look at the baffled family, once she was behind closed doors Clary slid down the dark wooden door in defeat closing her eyes and breathing slowly worrying about what had just happened to her, the last thing she heard before she drifted off against the door was that stupid golden boy say,
"Well she's going to be fun isn't she".
