And in the middle of my chaos, there was you." - Unknown

Jughead's POV

She radiates positivity everywhere she goes, like sunshine. It doesn't matter what happens, it doesn't matter if her mother has kicked out her Dad, or if her sister is trapped in Thornhill where her safety isn't guaranteed, or if the boy she likes doesn't like her back. It doesn't matter. She is still so positive, and we couldn't be more different. Well, that's what I'm led to believe. Although they say opposites attract, like magnets. The truth is, I'm falling for her. Deeper than I've ever fell before. I've never been so terrified in my life.

Betty Cooper marches down the hall with a selection of textbooks hugged to her chest and her friends swarming around her. I recognise them as Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge and Kevin Keller.  A shoulder barges into me. It was silly of me to think I was invisible. Well, I am, to everyone but the bullies. "Oh hey there, Wednesday Addams!" Reggie Mantle smirks. I grit my teeth, "what do you want?"
"What do I want? What do I want? Is he giving me sass, boys?" Reggie asks his gang. They all murmur. "Yes, Reggie. Pretty sure he is." One of them remarks. "Look, Reggie. I don't want any trouble..." I begin.
"What are you doing, Reggie?" A voice questions. I turn to find the source. Betty Cooper. Reggie growls, backing away. "Hey, are you okay, Jughead?" She frowns. How does she remember me? We used to be friends when we were kids, but then she became friends with Archie, and he warned me to back off. "Um, yeah. I'm fine. Why did you do that?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"I don't know, I guess I just saw you and I missed us being friends..." She shrugs. "Betty, I can't be friends with you." I warn. A look of hurt flashes across her face. "Why not?" She bites lip. I see Archie approaching us, and immediately look down. "Gotta go." I murmur, shuffling off.

Betty's POV

Archie taps my shoulder. "Was he bothering you?"
I shake my head, "No, I just wanted to be his friend again. I miss him." Archie's eyes display pure anger, even though he tries to hide it. "Well, I'd say that he doesn't want to be your friend again." Archie swallows. My jaw hangs open as to how sour he's being. "Archie, I don't think I want to be around you if you're going to be like this." I tell him, walking off. "If you're going to hang out with that creepy loner, I swear to god I'll do something bad to him." He shouts. I turn around again. "How dare you threaten to hurt him!!!" I yell. "And now I've seen your true colours, you can't have me as your back up unless Veronica breaks up with you any more!" I stomp off. How dare he? How- dare- he? I don't stop until I see Jughead underneath a tree. I sit next to him. "Betty, please go away. Archie doesn't want me near you." He pleads. "No. I don't care about Archie. Please Juggy!" I beg. He buries his head in his hands. "Y- you don't understand! Archie knows things..." My old friend cries. I lift up his chin, and before I can stop myself, I kiss him.
