.Jacob.
Jacob eyed the tree line suspiciously, the greatforest was home to many unknown beasts, one had obviously gotten to his flock of sheep.
A sheep missing here or there occasionally was something jacob expected, wolves from the greatforest.
But he had never seen anything like this before, thirty sheep lay dead at his feet, their flesh torn and burnt all the way to the bone.
Cursing his ancestors for building their farm so close to the greatforest, he went to work on clearing the mess, this would surely effect his profits.
---
Jacob awoke with a start as his wagon skidded to a stop, the village of pinevale sprawled before him.
Getting his crops from his wagon, he entered the village, he was here to sell his produce and hopefully, get enough to buy some new sheep.
The mayor stood in the townsquare, surrounded by a angry mob.
Ignoring the racket, jacob looked towards the tavern, where his friend jeremiah usually sat, drinking ale at this time of day.
Jeremiah turned to jacob," jacob, funny seeing you this early in the year, what happened?"
Jacob usually only entered town during winter, when he had to sell his animals and produce.
"My sheep got culled by some beast from greatforest, i came here hoping to buy some before winter comes." Jacob replied. "Anyway, whats going on there?" Jacob gestured to the mob.
"What a coincidence, apparently some creature has been attacking all the farms around the greatforest, the mob there are the victims."
"I guess ill go and join in then," jacob pushed himself off the table and headed towards the mob.
The mayors attempt to placate the mob was failing, and he was getting overwhelmed.
"Silence!" A deep rumble went out, the mob quieted and turned to the source of the sound.
A knight stood at the town entrance, armored from head to toe.
The mayor scurried to his side," you are finally here, thank the gods."
The knight ignored him and continued to speak to the town," the king has heard unsettling rumors, and i am here to unseat them."
The mayor piped up," yes, yes, excellent," he turned to the mob," see, nothing to worry about, now, return to your homes and let us handle this."
The knight finally turned to the mayor," can we talk in private?"
"Ofcourse, follow me," the mayor ushered him to the townhall.
Jacob returned to jeremiah," well wasnt that eventful."
Jeremiah grinned," atleast you can sleep at peace now, come tommorow morning the beast will probably be dead."
