Chapter 5

*Alex POV*

I woke up with a jolt. Niall’s arms were wrapped around my torso; he was still asleep. I slowly slipped out of his grip and went to the bathroom. Once I was inside, I noticed a new dress on the table beside the sinks. It was a riding dress, a deep forest green, and a pair of matching riding boots came with it. I slipped out of my nightgown and slipped the new dress over my head. Once I was done adjusting the material, I pulled on the knee-high boots and laced them. Just as I was about to open the door, Niall burst in.

“Alex?!?!? What do you think you are doing?!?” he shouted at the top of his lungs.

“G-getting dressed,” I stuttered. What was his problem?

“I thought you were-were gone. I woke up and you weren’t there!” he said angrily.

“I’m sorry I didn’t want to wake you…” I replied. I leaned in and pressed my lips to his. “I’m not going anywhere.” I whispered. Well, that’s actually kind of debatable… Niall looked down at me for a few seconds and then nodded. He turned around to his dresser and grabbed fresh clothes. He looked at me and saw what I was wearing. His face contorted in anger again.

“You aren’t going riding today,” he said blankly.

“Why not? I was looking forward to seeing Jade, I miss her,” I asked disappointed.

“You can’t go riding until I find you a new instructor,” Niall snapped.

“But I like Jason, we’re friends… and that’s all we’re going to be Niall,” I said timidly. He avoided my eyes and tried to get around me and into the bathroom but I blocked his path. “Nothing is going to happen, why can’t you just trust me?”

Niall let out a sigh. “I- I guess you can go.. but under one condition,” Niall grumbled.

“OKay, what?”I asked.

“You give me a kiss before you leave,” he said smirking. I smiled and leaned up and crashed my lips against his. He wrapped his arms around me, but before he could do anything further, I slipped out of his grip and kissed him on the cheek.

“Bye,” I laughed, his expression was priceless. I then strolled out the door and walked through the labyrinth of hallways to the stables.

“Hey stranger,” Jason greeted as I pushed open the giant door.

“I’ve got your class again today,” I said smiling.

“I’m glad too, I was getting kinda lonely,” he teased. I just laughed and followed him to Jade’s stable. I watched him as he carefully put her saddle on and tightened the straps.

“So, how was the royal brat?” he asked grinning. Anger suddenly rose inside of me.

“He’s not that bad once you get to know him,” I protested. Jason turned around to stare at me, his eyes trailed up and down my body, making me really uncomfortable. His eyes met mine, and there was something in them that I’ve never seen before. At least not in his.

“It’s a shame such a pretty face is wasted on a man like him,” he smirked walking closer and closer to me.

“Jason?” I squeaked.

**Niall’s POV**

I ran through the halls as fast as I could to go see Alex. I couldn’t wait to see those gorgeous eyes again; even though it’s only been a few hours since she left, it feels like a lifetime away from her. I finally reached the stables and as I grabbed for the door, it swung open. Alex was standing there, sobbing.
