Hello, my name is Ron. I'm waiting for my bestfriend, Red. Red and I have been really close in High School. When I think of several reasons as why team Red and Ron worked, well, we are both really shy guys. We spend a lot of time wondering what a normal guy would do in a given situation. We are one of the few guys that believe that chivalry isn't dead. And because of that we became close to girls. Well, not the boyfriend kind of close, but mostly the friendzoned kind.
But there is this one girl in particular that Red has been really close to and that would be Tam. Unfortunately, 5 months ago, Tam passed away giving birth. By his Mom's request, I visit Red every now and then. He has been relatively quiet about the issue, he doesn't talk about Tam and we, as his friends, don't talk about her either. But besides that, Red looks okay. His Mom said that he now spends more time at home, mostly sleeps nowadays, sometimes teaching their pet dog to do tricks and he could also be found typing college works on his computer.
This is not the first time that Red grieved. Years ago, his Dad also passed away, so in comparison, all of us agree that Red is doing better than before. He has mastered the ability to keep himself busy. I also heard that his grades have gone up. Which is always a good sign, even on his Physics class in which he dropped out last trimester.
So why am I here? Well I have been waiting for the past hour here at Lilly's, our favorite restaurant/hang-out for the past 6 years. Afterall, it is his birthday and he said it would be better if it would just be the "classic Red and Ron celebration". I have no idea what he is talking about. Since High School we usually celebrate it with Mike, Tam and all our other friends, then it became just Me, Red, Mike and his girlfriend and Tam... and in college it was basically just me, Red and Mike's bunch of friends. I think it's kind of nice that we meet every once in a while despite the fact that we go to different colleges.
"Hey, I know you." Says a familiar voice. When I looked up, I saw a familiar face. I saw him at the funeral... Tam's funeral.
"Hey, I believe I forgot your name." I replied.
"It's Lucas, from the funeral." Lucas said.
"Take a seat man, why are you here?"
"I'm here for a classic Red and Lucas celebration"
"Are you kidding me?" I thought to myself. Since when did Red and Lucas became classic? I am the high school friend, Lucas is a college friend. And when I do the math, they have only known each other for about two years. Two years is definitely not classic.
"So are you here to be part of the celebration as well?" Lucas continued.
"He also messaged you?" I said.
"No, actually, I borrowed his cellphone a while ago and saw that I wasn't part of any celebration!" Lucas said. "I am always part of the celebration!"
"Oh, good. Hmm, maybe we can wait here for Red?"
"That would be a good idea. While waiting, first round is on me!"
"They do not sell alcohol here"
"First round of spaghetti!" He exclaimed.
