"Come on, Ari! You'v been looking for shoes for thirty minutes. I know what you're tryin' to do."

"What are you talking about, Dominic? You're lucky I agreed to go to this shit. I could just stay home."

She walked out of the closet wearing a beige, loosely fit, buttoned up shirt and white pants. Her feet were bare and she hadn't even started on her hair.

"If it's that big of a deal, stay here. But I'm taking the kids with me."

It was my father's birthday and they were throwing him a party. I knew she didn't want to come but she had no other choice.

"Of course, wouldn't you all love it if I stayed here!" She hissed, walking into the bathroom and slamming the door behind her.

We managed to make it to the party an hour late. I could see Ari smirking from the corner of my eye, but I decided not to speak on it. I helped everyone out of the car except Ari, who snatched away.

"I'll do it!"

She grabbed Kimmer from the back seat and held her tightly.

When we entered, everyone was excited to see us. I led the way through the party, introducing her to members of my family, who she had never met.

ARIANNA

"You sure know how to pick em." Dominic's drunk uncle spoke with a wide grin eyeing me over the beer.

When he pulled me in for a hug, he was a little too friendly and managed to slither his hand across my ass.

"Aye, watch your hands, man!" Dominic laughed, pulling him away from me.

I glanced back at his aunt who was holding Kimmer, while the kids ran around with their cousins. Before I could take my seat, Dominic was pulling me towards the main area of the house to watch everyone sing Happy Birthday. When they finished, he locked his fingers between mine and we approached William, who was finishing off a slice of cake.

"Glad to see you, son."

He hugged Dominic as I kept a close grip on him.

"Ari and I got you this." He spoke passing him the bag.

William glared at me while taking the bag away from Dominic and before he could speak, a woman walked behind him, tapping his shoulder.

"Happy Birthday, Mr.William!" She smiled.

He turned and pulled her in for a friendly hug.

"Thank you so much, Malaya!"

"No problem. Hello Mr.Klein." She spoke peeking around William, on her toes.

"Hello, Malaya. How are you?"

"I'm fine, glad to get out of that office." She laughed.

I cleared my throat and he quickly introduced me.

"Malaya, this is my wife, Arianna Klein. Ari, this is Malaya Wellington. She's the intern."

I shook her hand with a smile as she took a sip out of the glass cup.

"I thought you were-"

"I know, I know." She laughed. "I'll see you all later, I have someone to meet."

We all said our goodbyes to her and continued with the conversation.

"Baby, I thought a man would be the intern."

"I did too." He shrugged.

"Arianna, would you mind if I had a moment with Dominic?" William asked dryly.
