Tuesday June 13th, West- Havensville's Class of 2006 party.
A house filled with red cups, obnoxious loud music, and high school
graduates celebrating their freedom. An aroma of sweat and alcohol
pored through the air of the house, surrounded by the forest. In the
corner of the house, stood a group of guys discussing their future.
Mark summers, a young man hoping to get his scholarship in baseball.
Jesse McClure, Jesse's father was a cop, so he was thinking about
following in his fathers' foot steps. Colin Michaels, Colin was going
to collage to get his degree in Marine Biology. Shane Arthur, Shane,
compared to his friends didn't really have anything he wanted to do;
Shane was a bit of a free spirit. It seemed to work for him though, as
he always got the prettiest girls in school, and life was always easy.
As this group of guys was talking, a high school friend stood up on a
table to announce that people could come outside and sit around the
campfire. This being the last night they would all be together as
friends, they decided to go outside and enjoy the starry night and to
make smores.
As the wood popped and crackled in the hot flames, someone mentioned
something about telling ghost stories. Jenna, the high school head
cheerleader, started off by telling the story of Benjamin George.
Benjamin was a ghost who came in the night to kidnap children and take
them back to his cave; he would start off by slowly torturing them
until death, then making their ghosts a slave to him forever.
Danny, another high school friend, told a true story of how he once
encountered something rather eerie one night. About a year ago, Danny
was home alone and had stayed up till 3:00 in the morning watching the
scary movie, 'The Ring'; Danny, being tired, turned off the TV and got
up from his bed to go to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Right as
Danny had gotten done brushing his teeth, he heard a loud knock on the
bathroom door, knowing that he was home alone; Danny wondered who it
could be outside of the door. He slowly turned the door knob, opening
the door and revealing that no one was there, Danny looked up to see
that his TV was turned back on and was paused at the part where the
little girl comes out of the TV screen.... Danny immediately ran to his
neighbor's house, asking his friend if he could spend the night.
More stories were told around the campfire, but there was one that
caught everybody's attention. Jesse, decided to tell the Legend of
Frank Fuller, Jesse stated that his dad and the entire police
department had always talked about it since, deputy Grant Ellis had
died back in 1955. Jesse told the entire story, and how after both of
Chris's parents died, he had to go and live in several foster homes.
Chris was always being moved from home to home because he became a bit
of a lunatic, he was later moved to a mental institution for about 10
years. He somehow mellowed out though, and last time someone saw him,
he had moved back in his childhood home.
It wasn't long after Jesse had gotten done telling the story that
people began to leave and go home. Jesse and Shane were still sitting
by the fire when Shane got an awful idea.....
"We should go search and see if we can find out what happened to
Chris's parents and Grant" said Shane. Jesse with wide eyes and look
of distress, "Are you nuts, I think you've had a little bit too much
to drink"..Shane responded with a smile, "Do you know how famous we
would be though, if we found out the truth" Jesse then stood up and
kicked dirt onto the fire to put it out, "More like, 'how dead we
would be', nobody's been there in ages" Shane nodded his head in
agreement "My point, exactly, maybe there's some new information"
Jesse shaking his head, "Well I don't think its worth the risk,"
Shane, throwing his beer bottle into the heap of burnt wood and ashes,
"Well I'm going, you can stay here and act like little girl, I don't
care". Jesse grabbing Shane's arm, "Shane c'mon I'm serious, don't be
an idiot!" Shane turning around to face Jesse, "Jesse, its called The
'Legend' of Frank Fuller, I highly doubt it's even true", Jesse with a
sarcastic smile, "Fine, but if we die I'm blaming you"..........
