This was a humongous mistake. I shouldn't have allowed it to happen. I shouldn't have let the darkness consume me.
For the second bizarre time this week, I had fainted. It wasn't a regular and everyday thing for me, so what was happening? The only difference between the two situations, was when I eventually gained my consciousness, I couldn't recognize any of my surroundings.
I was laying down on a soft, luxurious bed. I could feel my tired body sinking into its depths. It was a large one, capable of fitting two people. This, without a doubt, was not my bed.
My droopy eyes fluttered open and the sight before me was welcoming.
I was centered on the far right side of a spacious room. My eyes squinted from the vast amount of light pouring in from all 3 of the windows. On my distant left, there was a white desk with an office chair tucked beside. The walls' colors resembled those of limes and a portion of them was covered by black and white paintings and photographs.
Even though the room seemed homey and cozy, I eyed it with caution and suspicion.
I was attempting to stifle a yawn when a flash of blonde dashed in front of me. My yawn was accompanied by a gasp, and that combination earned me a cough. The owner of the blonde mess, a short young girl, hopped onto the bed. That sudden action was followed by a pair of brilliant bright green eyes staring into my dull brown ones.
The noise must have surprised the girl, because what happened next was definitely not pleasant.
A shriek came from the girl's direction and I clamped my hands over my ears. My ears had probably shattered by now, I was sure of it. I shut my eyes forcefully, not sure of what to expect.
Crying? Laughter? More screaming? No, what was at the other side of my eyelids was an ear-to-ear smile. A smile that could brighten someone's grumpy mood. It was an adorable, yet genuine one.
"Mama! She's awake! Hurry up before her eyes close again!"
I gaped at the little blonde cutie at my side. Who was this girl?
Her eyes lost their interest in mine and decided to inspect something past me. I sat up from my position and, without any control whatsoever, my eyes followed towards the direction she was looking in.
Leaning against the elegant beige door's frame was a woman.
A relaxed smile uncovered two full rows of teeth that were slightly yellow. Looking a bit higher, a pair of crystal electric blue eyes dawned on me. She looked to be in her mid-forties, but I couldn't detect any lines of age on her sun-kissed face. What I did notice, however, were dimples burrowing into her chubby cheeks. A head of curly light brown hair was placed on top and was threatening to spill out from its messy bun.
The lady seemed to be giving off this positive vibe. Even though I didn't have the slightest idea of who she was, I could tell she was a kind-hearted person.
"It's good to see you awake, Missy," the woman took long strides towards me and was soon standing at my left.
"I'm sorry, but do we know each other?" I asked, still not certain of where I was.
"No, we don't. But, perhaps, I have a slight idea of who you are."
My eyebrows pinched close to each other and lines of confusion etched on my forehead. "Perhaps?"
A variety of altered looks played across her face. Her clear eyes looked clouded with unknown thoughts and wonders, as she searched me for any sign of body language.
