Chapter: 2. Plan of action.

At 5:30 am sharp undertaker was up. After having a night full of haunting nightmares he gladly welcomed the view of the rising sun. Indeed he had thought a good night's rest would have been enough to figure out what he needed to do to solve both men's problems but his mind was aching. Nothing seemed to work the more the thought about it. He knew from the very beginning that honesty was truly and indeed the best policy when it came to dealing with Grell Sutcliffe but still, he just couldn't be that brash to some one like him. Sebastian on the other hand was a different story entirely. He was quite simple and easy to deal with.
That demon carried about him an aura of peacefulness, or perhaps it was his general manners that put others to ease around him. Whichever one it was, or maybe both undertaker was indeed great full. His tricky side had already formulated a plan but the better part of him had denied it room to flourish. But the more he thought about it the more it made sense to him. Perhaps it was the old saying "to kill two birds with one stone", or maybe he was just being selfish and decided to take what was his in the first place. Never the least, it was decided and no matter how much Grell fought and denied him, he was sure to himself that the red head held some sort of affection toward him. Undertaker was now determined to make that devil known as Sutcliffe his, no matter how hard it seemed he was going to do it. It was with that thought in mind that he went about preparing him self for the day's duties and for the night's little surprise.

One anxious death reaper sat at his desk, tapping his heals against the brightly polished floor of his office as he continuously kept checking the time. An act that didn't go unnoticed by his blond subordinate nor his brunette co-worker. Knox studied him for a while as he quietly sent William a sign. However his ravened hair friend was way ahead of him. William was well aware of Grell's impatient behaviour. In fact he was quite sure he knew why his subordinate was acting that way.
"Ammm..... Grell Sir is everything OK? You seem a bit distracted as of late"... The blond's question caught him off guard. Grell stared up at both William and Knox, who both was waiting eagerly for his reply. " sure, no problem at all you guys. Everything's quite alright I assure you". Lies they all knew it. "Are you sure Sutcliffe?", William questioned on, not believing him for one bit. "Of coarse I'm sure Will, I was simply counting down the time. You see I have an important meeting with an old friend of mine that's all". He dismissed them again but no matter how hard he tried they already knew he was lying. Knox was about to push on but the old grandfather clock began to chime, reminding them that it was time to end their day's work. With out hesitation Grell flew out of his seat, grabbed his signature red coat and began running towards the nearest exit, leaving behind one very startled Knox and a not so surprised William.

"What the hell was that bout boss?", the blond questioned. "I'm not sure but .. If its what I think it is then Grell is going to be in a lot of trouble, that I can, without a doubt assure you". Knox eyes widened as he heard the seriousness in William's tone. "Ammmm........ forgive me sir but I don't quite follow. What do you mean?.....Its not like Mr Sutcliffe to make friends with the wrong sort of people, is it?"...."No its not Mr Knox but we're forgetting someone important". The blond immediately shoot out of his seat. His mind was on overdrive as he finally figured out just whom his boss was referring to...."you don't mean Sebastian do you?".... "Very clever". William smiled at him while he fixed his glasses. "That's the one indeed". The other reaper wasn't too happy with the idea either but Grell would kill him if he tried to intervene, knowing how deep his affections ran for the Phantomhive demon meant a world full of pain for whoever interfered.

Knox was too lost in his thoughts for over several minutes, that's until William broke through by hitting him lightly with his soul cutter. " well?".. The brunette questioned.
"Well what sir?", Knox rubbed his head while he tried to figure out what his boss meant. "Are you coming or not?".... William sighed frustratingly at the younger man. "I'm going to check on Sutcliffe you're free to tag along if you like, that's if you can keep a low profile". The blond immediately agreed and followed behind his boss. Even though he was scared of his red headed leader he knew that was nothing in comparison to what Grell felt towards Williams T Spears.

The questions that plagued his mind as he made his way towards his destination were endless. Grell fought himself for dominance over his thoughts. No matter how much he told him self to be calm and expect the best from Sebastian he just couldn't quite shake that feeling of sadness that was quickly catching up to him. It was that or maybe he was just being paranoid, but somehow he felt as tho he was being followed. Another feeling he chalked up to paranoia as well. "Seriously Sutcliffe", he talked to himself as he neared the place that held the fate of his and Sebastian's friendship in the palm of its hand. "Take it easy will you. Undertaker had this covered". Just as he was about to enter the old creepy looking mortician's home/shop he paused. It seemed his uneasiness was getting the better of him. Still, he had to get through the night regardless of Sebastian's view of him and with that thought aside he pushed on and there he was. Standing just inches away from the man who held all the answers. Undertaker.

-----****-----****-----*****----****-----

Undertaker froze when he caught sight of Grell. Even tho he was expecting him, he still wasn't fully prepared for what he was about to do. His mind and his entire body went stiff but, something in Sutcliffe's eyes softened his demeanor. Maybe it was the fact that he was greatfull to the undertaker for his help or was it because he was scared of the answer he sought. Never the least, the old reaper was determined to do what he had to, even if it meant loosing the one he loved forever. Only the heavens knew just how unforgiving the red headed shinigam can be when his trust and loyalty is betrayed.

They both stared at each other quite intently, each having his own reason to be hesitant. But the more undertaker's eyes bore into Grell the more he felt at ease, even if it was just for a little while. It seemed as tho they both were scared of the upcoming conversation, a fact that didn't go unnoticed as well. But still, as much as they each wanted to just run and call it quits they knew it was futile. The topic of Sebastian's feelings towards Grell was inescapable. It would always and forever be dragged behind him no matter how far he choose to run. Grell Sutcliffe needed to clear the air once and for all. He needed to know what the Phanthomhive demon really though about him, he needed to know if their friendship stood a chance for he wasn't ready to live in a world with out the first person who was really and truly his best friend.

"Sutcliffe", the silver haired reaper greeted him quite calmly despite his inner turmoil. Grell smiled at him, not really finding his voice due to the nervousness he was feeling.
"Goodnight silver". His words came out a bit too fast for his particular liking. Undertaker flashed him one of his world famous smiles with hopes of it putting the scarlet reaper to ease. However his little gesture had the opposite effect on the slender man as his mind began to over work it's self once again. Grell silently berated himself for being to overly sensitive and slowly he began to lighten up.
Upon seeing the slight change in his behaviour, Undertaker as well started to relax. He figured it was just childish of him to be this worked up over something that might quite possibly turn out to be beneficial to them both. With that thought aside he forced his body and mind to comply with each other for he was about to make his move.
