I flat ironed my last piece of hair and picked up my comb. I combed my straight hair back and flipped it smiling in the mirror. I took a quick note of me needing a perm cause this new growth is not playing, but I LOVE my hair. I picked up my grey headband and  put it on. I looked in my mirror and looked over my outfit. A  plain skin tight black  shirt with  grey sweat pants and  gamma 11's.  I took a quick picture for instagram and  got my bag for school. After one last check I ran down the stairs.

"Hey mama." I said while grabbing an apple out the fruit bowl and swerving around the island to give her a kiss.

"Hey baby Travis should be down in a few."

"What about Austin?" I asked and she shrugged.

"He was supposed to be here since last night but he--" we turned to the sound of the front door opening and closing back. We waited for Austin to walk through and when he did my mom caught her breath.

"AUSTIN!" my mom yelled and dropped everything.  She wiped her hands on mittens and ran over to him. She hugged him and he hugged back.

"Boy you got me up all hours of the night waiting for you!  Where have you been! I'm sitting here like a lost puppy callin' up all your little "friends" asking if they done seen you and I came up with nothing!"  I shook my head as I walked passed my older brother and  my mom arguing.

"What mama and Austin fighting about now?"  Travis asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Austin came in just now like a dumbass knowing mama funna chew his ass out."

"I swear that lil boy stupid. Now we gotta wait for his ass to get ready." Travis cussed and stormed out the house. I watched as he unlocked his car door and throw his bag inside and close it back. He walked around the car and sat on the hood of it staring off into space.

Austin finally walked out and I avoided looking at him.

"Damn, you mad at me to?" he asked and I walked off kissing my teeth.

"I know you just tryna make money but come on. Mama gotta good job,  me and Travis got a job and daddy sends us 300 dollars each every month. You don't need to risk your life doing this"

I made it to Travis car and got in the front not in the mood to go off in a rant like usual. Austin maybe a year older but I swear sometimes he acts like he needs a baby sitter.

"Sit up front Austin." Travis said with anger in his tone. I looked at Travis and he stared back at me and I rolled my eyes getting out the front. Austin got in and I sat in the back looking out the window.

"I'm not sugar coating shit, but you a fuckin' dumbass." Travis said starting the car and taking off.

"Why is it that I always got to talk to you like you got no got damn sense. It should be Nicki up here but nahh it's you. Everyone in the family gotta real job BUT you."

"Aye I got a job." Austin said and Travis glared at him. He stayed quiet until we reached school grounds.

"Look man I'm just being real with you, you sitting here with your pants to yo' fuckin' knees, a shirt that's too damn long and grills in ya  teeth. You think life is just made out for you and you could do whatever the fuck you want. Them niggas you call your friends ain't ya friends. They flaw as fuck and would rat you out to save they own selves. You a fake ass wanna be thug and the next time you come late into the house, ima beat yo ass as soon as you step in. Understand?" Travis always had this look in his eyes where you would have to do what he says or you might as well die.

"I got you man." Austin said nodding.

"And I want you to quit this shit now while mama doesn't even know."
