This is a special dedication to all those fans of Ariana Grande who have been affected by the Manchester attack.
Ariana Grande
The stage is set. The crowd's never ending cheer. The stars unite to show love and support. Because love conquers hate, like good conquers evil.
I can't help but sniffle at their support. I can't help but feel guilty over the fact that people were injured and have died at my concert.
The world has become a cruel place and only love can conquer over this. As I make my way on the stage, with my dancers moving ever so gracefully surrounding me. I swish my ponytail, my signature move and start singing. My voice trembling as my eyes start tearing up. Miley Cyrus joins me on stage to sing "Don't Dream It's Over."
"There is freedom within," I start and I watch the massive crowd wave their hands in the air. I look proudly at what we have all achieved.
"Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over." She joins.
Justin Bieber comes up on stage for his debut and sings Cold Water while playing his guitar. You can hear the echoes of the crowd singing along.
At the end of his song he cries, "Put your hand up if you're not gonna let go. God is good in the midst of evil. God is in the midst.....no matter what's happening in the world and he loves you. Just wanna take this moment to honour the people that were lost or that were...taken. We love you so much. To the families, we love you so much. Put both hands up to honour those people right now. Everybody say, 'We honour you!'" And the whole crowd repeats.
I break down backstage. The amount of love here tonight. I have never seen this much.
And Black Eyed Peas' contribution with the debut 'Where is the love' that I sang with them, were so beautiful that my voice was breaking.
~Flashback~
The day of the concert was here. I was getting ready backstage, doing some vocal warm up, practicing some dance moves and all. I could hear people shuffling inside the stadium. I was laughing at a joke one of my dancers cracked when I heard a hollow, faint 'boom!' that sounded like it came from outside. I thought it was the fireworks but I didn't hear any other sound that was similar following it. But what I did hear were screams. Screams..... first far and faint like in a dream then slowly travelling closer and spread like a disease, a wave. I walked over to the curtains, about to draw it back with my heart thumping wildly when my manager yanked me and rushed me into the van.
"We have to go now Miss Ariana. It's not safe anymore."
I wanted to say something, ask what was going on but my voice wouldn't come out. My mind sort of knew what must have happened but my brain couldn't process the fact that it did. It was an explosion wasn't it? Right outside the stadium where people were coming in to see my concert. It felt like people bought tickets for their death rather than for a concert. One of my managers went onto stage and started announcing, making sure everyone inside the stadium was calm and could exit the stadium safely. And I felt another stab of guilt.
People out there had their lives at risk but I was here being safely guarded and escorted to my vehicle. I should be out there, helping them although deep inside I knew there was nothing much I could do.
