Chap 2

Hi everyone! Been a while since last update. I've been pretty bussy as of late with school and all. Hope you can forgive me!

In this chapter, I want to give a taste of Miwa and Kai's friendship as well as Miwa's love for Kai in a small piece. Hope it works out!

''What happened to you?''

''Don't ask, I'm fine.

''No but seriously, what is wrong?''

''I'm fine damn it!''

The truth is, Miwa wasn't alright at all. His number one crush, the love of his life had been asked out by his number one rival and then asked to team up with him in the upcoming vanguard tournament. Life couldn't be sadder. Also, the previous night he was thrown out of card capital by Misaki. Not a good day for him.

Kai huffed and crossed his arms. ''Fine then. Forget I asked.''

Miwa returned to his pitiful stance. It was like this: Sitting in a gloomy way with your head on the table and whine. Yup, could get anyone annoyed. Especially Kai. Talking about Kai, he is probably going to snap any moment now. Just count to three. One... Two... Three-

''If you don't stop whine like a baby I'm outta here.''

''You'd leave your best friend? How mean of you!''

''My best friend is not a baby.''

''D-did you just call me.. - best friend?''

''I did no such thing. Now stop acting like a three-year-old.''

Miwa pouted but did as Kai said. He sat back up and stared at the brunette. Kai returned his stare back to the blonde but looked away just as their eyes met. Miwa grinned but faked a sigh.

''You are so hard to talk with, you know.''

''I don't know what you are talking about.''

''By the way. why did you decide to team up with Ren? I'm a good choice too y'know.''

Kai suddenly became quiet. His eyes grew distant as if looking at old memories in another world.

''First I didn't even know of the competition and he was the first to ask me so I couldn't just say no. Secondly, It's been such a long time since the two of us last teamed up. I thought it could be nostalgic and something like a refresh of old days.''

Miwa nodded understandingly but also in relief. Kai didn't team up with Ren because of that reason. Just a 'refresh of old days' as he said himself. Good.

''So if Ren didn't ask, could I have been a conveniet choice?''

''I guess anyone would do. Except for those I don't like of course.''

Miwa giggled. ''Like Morikawa?''

''Hit the jackpot.''

''Aww dude that's harsh. I bet Morikawa would be a reasonable choice.''

Kai huffed.'' With that mess of grade threes I bet he wouldn't even beat a two year old. Not that says much.''

The blonde couldn't stop a rush of joy to overflow him just as the session ended. He laughed half the way to the vanguard club room when he finaly stopped and when he did, he glanced at his friend and examined his face which made a tiny redness blossom over his cheeks.

''Hey Kai-''

''TOSHIKI KAI!! I CHALLENGE YOU TO A FIGHT!!''

Both teens turned around and saw the most obnoxious not to mention irritating man on earth - Morikawa. Kai turned back around and walked into the room with Miwa laughing in tail.

''Don't just ignore me!'' Morikawa yelled as he ran in to the room followed by Izaki.

During the meeting Morikawa wouldn't stop bugging Kai about a vanguard fight and Miwa had a really hard time not to look at his crush. His beautiful face with his amazingly beautiful eyes and of course his handsome body. It almost made him drool on several occasions. Not to mention Kai's smile. Not that cocky smile during battles but his true smile. The one he does when he's cheerful. The smile which was lost in a time elapsed, never to make apperance if not truly happy.

The sound of metal brushing on the floor brought the blonde out of his thoughts and turned his attention to said brunette who sat himself down with a huff. Kai turned his attention to the blonde who stared at him back.

''...You have been acting very strange this whole day. Is something wrong?''

Miwa got caught off guard. He really hadn't hoped for Kai to find him staring at him. Got to hide any suspicion.

''Nothing is wrong with me. I've just had a lot on my mind lately.''

Kai almost glared at him. He didn't buy the cheap trick. ''Not to mention you've been staring a lot at me too. If I have something on my face, just tell me.''

At the mention of THAT made blood rise to his cheeks and he had a hard time to hide his blush. Kai didn't seem to catch him as he was preoccupied with his deck.

Miwa breathed in deep and breathed out and placed his head on his hand and watched Kai work. He turned his gaze to his hands which held and turned the cards smoothly.

The blonde just wanted to place his hands on top of his and held them and never let go. But he couldn't do that. Not yet. He was not even sure of his feelings was reciprocated. His love for the brunette could fill the entire world but he didn't know if Kai's feelings towards him was the same. So he had to wait. Wait until he could find any hint for shared feelings. Now was actually a perfect moment to ask.

''Hey Kai.'' Miwa called. His only response was a ''hmm?'' back which made it clear he was listening to a certain degree.

''Do you.. Ehhe I'm, not sure how to put this into words.. Do.. Do you have someone you like?''

Kai suddenly became very still and he almost dropped his cards on the table. Nothing was said between the two until Kai suddenly looked away, as if hiding.

''...Yes..'' was his only response before he left the room in a hurry. Miwa's heart skipped a beat. Although he said it very quiet he did say he liked someone. Does this mean he has a chance?

Does this mean he really has a chance?
