Appearance: 5'2, slender hourglass figure, pale skin, straight waist length mahogany hair, usually tied in a loose plait hanging over her right shoulder. Overgrown bangs swept to right side of face. Large sapphire blue eyes with thick, dark lashes.
Personality: Quiet but polite and kind, until you get to know her. Then she is sarcastic, brutally honest and loves to joke around. She isn't shy, but isn't sure how to approach people until they've approached her, she judges how to react by how they act to her. If they're mean, she'll be meaner but if they're nice, she'll befriend them with her easy going and laid back nature. In fights, she scoffs and mocks her opponent and enjoys making them feel inferior. She never blushes or gets flustered and she can sometimes come off as slightly condescending without meaning to. She can also be a little flirty, but only for fun more than anything else, or to gauge people's reactions.
Background: Riko was born into the nobility of Soul Society. She was an only child of two reknowned Shingami, her father a captain and her mother his lieutenant.
When Riko was six, her father (Hikaru) went on a mission, only to be killed in action. Though she didn't know it at the time, her mother (Emiko) found his death somewhat suspicious.
Not much time had passed when Emiko had told Riko of her suspicions, and though being a child, Riko had to agree. Although children do tend to think their lvoes ones are immortal, Riko knew her dad was a notorious warrior, even by Shinigami standards.
When Riko was 14, when she was in the academy, her mother returned home looking completely distressed. She told Riko she had discovered something before falling unconscious, a coma taking over her.
It only took a week for her to die after that, leaving Riko alone.
Riko kept her suspicions about her parents' deaths to herself, especially since people already thought she was odd, not caring to go out of her way to make friends whilst not being remotely shy. She was always considered exceptional at the academy, though she felt completely alone. She was friendly enough to people, and didn't seem to mind her lack in friends, but was exceedingly thankful when Renji introduced himself to her. It was shortly after Rukia was taken in by Byakuya Kuchke, leaving both Ruka and Renji all alone apart from one another, and in this they formed a bond.
