Leo's POV

Everybody else was out partying...on a day like this? How could they? It was July 25th. The day I killed my own mother. Tears stung my eyes as I tinkered in bunker 9. I let my hands do the work, not my brain. A framed picture of my mother was propped up on the wall while two candles flickered next to it. My mom was beautiful. Why did I have to be so stupid? All of a sudden the candles flames wavered and I could feel the room temperature drop. I reached for my hammer. This was good I need to blow off some steam. I turned and hurled the hammer across the room. A boy ducked as it came towards him.

"Holy Hades you can throw." He joked. I answered with a glare.

"Ok. Not the time. Well....I'm Nico. Nico Di Angelo." The boy introduced himself and held out his hand.

"Leo Valdez." I replied shortly. When I grabbed his hand I jumped back in surprise. His skin was like ice.

"S-sorry. I should have warned you. Son of Hades, that happens." He stuttered, pale cheeks flushing a light pink.

"Like Hazel!" I exclaimed. "She'll probably want to meet you, being her half brother and all, maybe even date you, huh huh?" I rambled dragging him to the party. I couldn't show that I was weak.

"W-what N-no! I-i mean I would love to meet her just not today." He said cheeks growing a brighter red. "Besides...I wanted to show you s-something." He finished. I stopped dragging him and looked at him.

"What kind of thing?" I asked. What could he show me. He doesn't even know me.

"I-I well i-it's nothing, well yeah it is, but I mean you don't have to come. I-I want you t-too but y-"

"Calm down hon. Just show me I'll come." I said. The room was dropping temperature fast.

"This way." He put his head down speed walking through the woods. I chuckled and followed. We walked to a clearing.

"You know. The fire. You picked a hell of a day to start it." He mumbled. The guilt came back.

"W-what? how did y-you know?" I asked. I've never met him.

"Just wait." Was all he said before closing his eyes and chanting something. The ground rumbled and this was the first time I had noticed the grave in the ground. It was filled with...pop? Spirits started coming out of the trees but couldn't come any further than the tree line. Then a skeleton limped its way to the grave and drank. It's form shimmered and my mom was standing there. I had always been able to see ghosts but never like this.

"M-mom?" I whispered.

"Leo." She smiled.

"H-how?" I stumbled.

"Your friend Nico seems to be very talented. And it's a special day. We can talk longer now." She complimented. His cheeks flushed a light pink and he picked at his sword.

We talked and caught up for what seemed like hours. Eventually her form flickered and she frowned.

"Its time to go." She said.

I nodded grimly.

"So I guess this is goodbye." I teared up.

"I'll always be here." She promised and leaned down to kiss my head.

Her form disappeared before she could.

Tears streaked my face when Nico put a hand on my shoulder.

"Holy Hades!" I cried. His skin almost froze my shoulder off.

"S-sorry! I-I just..." He trailed off.

"How did you know?" My voice was hollow. "I've never told anybody."

He paled and scooted away from me.

"I-I...She came to me a-and told m-" He started.

"SHE WOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT!" I yelled. "She knows what it would do to me."

"I have my ways." he mumbled.

"OH RIGHT BECAUSE I FORGOT YOU WERE A SON OF HADES ONE OF THE BIG THREE!" I couldn't hold it in any longer.

"It's not that simple." He almost whispered.

"SURE BECAUSE IT'S SO HARD TO BE YOU!" My hands started getting warmer.

"MAYBE IT IS!" He finally go this voice back.

"AND WHYS THAT!" How could it be hard for him? Nothing goes wrong in his life!

"THIS!" He screamed and grabbed my head. His lips smashed on mine. My arms waved in the air and my eyes were wide when he pulled away.

"Holy Hades." He whispered and backed away. "No.No.No.No." his eyes started tearing up.

He backed away and faded into a tree.

**********The Next Day**********

Nico's POV

I laid in my bunk wearing sweatpants a Sleeping with Sirens shirt and my sword on the dresser.

Someone banged on the door.

"Nico come on! You've been in there for fourteen hours!" Annabeth yelled.

All I did was roll over. Her knocking was getting annoying.

All of a sudden it stopped and mumbling was heard outside. The lock clicked and the door swung open. I flipped my pillow off my face and looked to the door ready to yell. Instead my face drained of color and was met with Leo.

"Hi." He said casually. Like nothing happened. I sat up and was all of a sudden conscious of my looks.

"hi" I mumbled in response. My face was burning now. He smirked and walked over too me. His face was inches from mine. He cocked his head to one side.

"Why'd you leave?" He pouted.

"W-Well..." I started.

"You didn't give me a chance." He chirped.

"A chance to do what?" I asked.

This wasn't what I thought was going to happen. My thoughts were interrupted when his rough lips met mine. I was frozen at first but I hesitantly kissed back. He pulled away breathless.

"That." He whispered.
