I didn't think it would take this long to find him. I mean, I knew it would take a while. I hoped it would be over soon; I could only live off of greasy diner food for so long.
All the information I had on him had led me just outside of Annville, Texas- a dusty, run down town in the middle of nowhere. How on Earth did he get out here?
I turned on the stolen police scanner from the glove compartment. I knew that I was close, and this guy always caused trouble wherever he went. Sure enough, right down the road, there was a shootout.
"Gotcha" I whispered to myself. I slammed my foot on the gas and was a the scene within minutes. The police were surrounding a purple Chevy, guns pointed, and a tall, lanky guy with sunglasses and an umbrella walked out with his hands up.
Without hesitation, I drove through the circle, taking out a few officers in front and knocking away their guns. The car spun to a stop, and I reached under the passengers seat, pulling out a pistol and Weston knife. The few remaining officers had now run up to my car and surrounded me. I tucked the knife into my boot and slid the gun under my right thigh as an officer walked up to the driver's window. I slowly placed my hands on the wheel where they were visible.
"I'm sorry Officer, did I interrupt something?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. The man came closer and pressed the nose of his gun to my window.
"Step out of the vehicle" he ordered sternly. I noticed a small black tattoo sticking out from under the cuff of his wrist ending in 17:12.
Hunters.
I looked at the road ahead and saw the lanky guy still standing there, holding his hand to shield his eyes, staring straight back at me.
"Ma'am, step out of the vehicle" the fake officer said again. I turned to face him and cocked my head to the side.
"Don't call me ma'am" I said, and pulled the gun from under my thigh, pressing it to the window, and shot at him, sending a bullet into his head.
I kicked open the car door, sending his body flying into another hunter, who screamed when he hit him, seeing he was dead. I spun around, taking a quick count of how many men were left before shooting across the roof of the car, taking down another hunter.
That makes seven. Five bullets left.
A hunter came from my left pointing a gun at me. I ducked as he took his first shot, letting the bullet stray, ending up in another hunter's shoulder. I stood back up and shot twice, sending both bullets into his chest. Six hunters, three bullets.
"Drop the gun" a voice said, the click of a gun sounding right behind me. I put my hands up as I felt the nose of a gun press to the back of my head. I dropped my gun, letting it fall to the ground.
"Good girl" the man said again. I could hear his boots on the road taking two steps closer to me. Quickly, I grabbed the hand holding the gun behind me and turned, punching him square in the gut, and shot his gun towards the remaining hunters around me, successfully hitting another two. I then turned the gun on the hunter, jabbing it under his jaw and firing. Five.
"AAAHH" I heard someone scream from behind me. I turned slightly, looking from the corner of my eye, and saw a wounded hunter running towards me, holding out a machete. I grabbed his arm as he approached me, bending down and pulling him over me, sending him tumbling to the ground. I pulled the knife out of my boot and stabbed him in the throat. Four.
While I was crouched, I grabbed my gun and shot at the next hunter running towards me, shooting at his stomach, chest, and finally this throat. Three left, no bullets. I looked behind me and saw the hunter who had been caught underneath the first one I killed finally getting up, pointing his gun at me. I quickly pulled the blade out of the man on the ground's throat and threw it at him. It landed with a thunk in his chest. Two.
At the same time, another wounded hunter ran towards me. I kicked out my leg, hitting his kneecap, resulting in a loud crack.
"AHH" he screamed, falling to the ground. I stood up and took a step over to him as he writhed in pain on the ground. I lifted my leg and stomped down on his face, earning another audible crack. I continued stomping when I felt a pair of arms around my shoulders, fixing onto my neck and pulling me back. Shit, I forgot there was one more.
I rushed backwards, running him into the car. His grip didn't give, so I began elbowing him in the ribs, still to no avail. My vision began to blur, and I was unable to breathe. I tilted my head to the rear of my car, eyeing the silver antenna sticking up, and a light bulb went off in my head. I reached my hand out, stretching as far as I could, until I was able to grab it. I yanked it off the car with as much force as I could muster, breaking it roughly from it's stand, and quickly turned it in my hand. Facing the jagged end towards the hunter, I jabbed it backwards into him, and felt his arms go limp around me. Gasping for air, I turned around and watched him fall to the ground, the antenna sticking out of his eyeball.
I slowly turned, rubbing my neck, and made my way over to the hunter with my knife, kneeling down, and pulling it out of his chest. As I began to stand, I saw three figures out of the corner of my eye running towards the purple car in the middle of the road. Oh no you don't.
I quickly stood up and slung the knife to the right with as much power as I could muster. I heard it settle into the metal of the car sharply, followed by an accented "shite". I turned to face the trio, seeing the knife had landed right between my person of interest and a short, dark haired woman. I turned my attention to the one avoiding sunlight like the plague, and smiled.
"Leaving so soon, Mr. Cassidy?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips. I could see his extremely confused expression on his face as he took a step closer.
"Who- what the bloody hell are ye?" he shouted. I took a deep breath and began walking closer. I'd waited years for this moment.
"We've met before" I said.
He let out a short, high pitched sigh. "Darlin' I'm quite sorry, but I don't remember ye" he replied.
"Well I remember you, you see," I said, "thirteen years ago you saved my life".
