It was a warm day in Los Angeles, but cool enough for a jacket. I was wearing some white washed shorts paired with a black UCLA hoodie with my black converse. My friend Isabella dropped me off at my house. I met her in choir when we were both 12 years old. We have been inseparable ever since doing everything together.
"Soph, we did good today! Both in varsity choir and in soccer. Coach said we have been doing good this season."
"Yea, I am so happy! Finally we got recognized today. Well I guess I better go inside." Looking towards my front door.
"Sure, we need all the rest we can get for practice tomorrow. See you then Soph."
"See you tomorrow Issy." I waved to her as she drove down the street.
I pulled my keys out of my soccer bag and unlocked the door. As I walked in a breeze of cool air brushed by my bare skin.
I guess it's just me tonight. The truth is my parents were barely around because their jobs occupied their lives. My mom and dad own a big investments company. I only see them when they have to do a deal around the house or it is their day off (which is rare).
I set my keys down on the kitchen counter and walk over to the refrigerator to get a glass of juice, until a sticky note stopped me in my tracks.
From Mom and Dad,
We are still at the office hard working at the moment. We wanted to tell you we are coming home early with some exciting news. It's about us and the company. I hope you like it.
Sincerely,
Mom and DadOh no. This can't be as good for me as it is for them.

I take a shower, then I lay on my bed thinking of my day today feeling pretty satisfied. My train of thought was interrupted by the front door opening. I walk downstairs to see my parents putting their briefcases down.
My mom has bags under her eyes telling me that she worked her butt off today. Both of their suits are wrinkled and disheveled. It takes my dad a few seconds until he spots me on the stairs.
"Oh hey Soph." My dad smiled softly at while taking his jacket off.
"Hi dad. So what's the "exciting" news you guys have to tell me?" I said just wanted to skip all the shit and unnecessary talk.
"Um."My dad paused as my mom walked over to him. He wrapped his arm around her waist. "We're moving soon."
My eyes felt like popping out my head when I heard the news. Really? Why now? In my senior year. Unbelievable parents.
"To where and why?" My eyes turn into slits staring daggers in my parents.
"Our company is expanding to this small town that was willing to accept our offer to be there. We are moving to Redondo Beach. It'll be fun. Oh by the way we move next week." She had a slight uneasy smile on her face.
I love my parents, I really do. Just not right now. How was I supposed to just wrap up my whole life living here and move it?
I look up to my parents watching my every move. "Can I be excused?" Tears swelling up in my eyes.
I run the stairs as fast as I can. I run into my room and fall on my bed crying into my pillow a little. I reach for my phone to text my best friend.
Sophia: Hey Isabella
Isabella: Hey what's up?
Sophia: So my mom said we are moving next week to Redondo Beach.I saw the bubble just sit there a few minutes until I heard the same sound when my life fell apart. I jumped as I heard a bang on my door. I walk up to it confused getting a hard book to throw.
I open it and see Isabella run to me making me fall on the ground. As she lifted her head to look into my eyes, I saw she had been crying.
"Don't be sad. We'll still be best friends right?"
"Yea you're right." she said as she wiped tears off of her cheeks. We'll make this the best week since you're leaving soon. Deal?"
"Deal." I smiled softly. I could tell this was affecting her, she just didn't want to show it.

The week went by in a blur. On Friday I said goodbye to my coach, choir teacher (my favorites), and the rest of my friends. Now the day I was regretting has come. Isabella was with me the whole day because she slept over. We were leaving in two hours, while everything I've been holding in is coming out.
I walked downstairs with Isabella looking all around my house. All of our stuff was packed up into the moving truck. I turned to my best friend knowing she had been crying just like I've been.
"Keep in touch with me please and no one better take my spot either." With a stern look on her face.
"Of course." I said laughing.
We both hugged the last time as I heard my mom calling my name in the distance. We walked out to my parents new Mercedes SUV. I looked up at our two story tan house. I stepped into the car as it roared to life taking us to our new lives.
