Irrational

I checked some more, hoping that I'd find her, that maybe she wandered off, but who was I kidding?

I jogged back to the others and took in a few deep breaths. "Did you find her?" Ginger asked, worry etched onto her face.

I shook my head, unable to speak, then approached the first flashlight and picked it up. "We have to find her," I sniffed, wiping the tears away. "We can't lose her."

Luke stood up and slowly walked over to me. "Zayn," he started. "We should wait until dawn . . . "

"Wait?" I repeated mockingly. "She was possessed, her eyes were fucking black!"

"Zayn," he said again. "We won't find her, even if we do look for her."

"Are you suggesting that we just leave and leave her behind? She's out there, somewhere. We're not leaving until she's with us!" my breathing had increased within the past five minutes.

"I'n not suggesting that we leave her, what the hell?" he frowned. "Let's look for her in the morning. We'll look for her, but in the morning. As soon as sunlight appears, we'll search for her. It shouldn't take long. Last time I checked the time it was around three in the morning," he rambled. "Just three more hours, we shouldn't search the woods right after what just . . . happened."

I sighed, and closed my eyes. The last time I lashed out from complete anger wasn't so long ago. I tried to calm myself. It's okay, I thought.

"How can some ghost even do that," I muttered angrily. "You better give me my fucking girlfriend back!"

Silvanna approached me. "Shhh, Zayn. It's okay, we'll find her," she whispered reassuringly. "She couldn't have gone that far." She pulled me into a tight hug.

Dawn arrived.

My eyes opened and I pulled myself from the ground. Luke was already up and, hurriedly, packing everything away.

I walked over to him, rubbing my eyes. "Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked.

He looked up from his bag then responded with, "I wanted you to rest. You went through alot last night . . . "

"Whatever, let's look for her," I stated, then stalked away.

"Fawn?" Ginger asked as we walked around the woods, packed up and ready to go.

"Fawn! Where are you?" I hollered, my voice echoing throughout the woods.

"These trees all look the same," Silvanna complained.

"Tell me about it," I rolled my eyes. I just hoped that we'd find her soon. I just knew that waiting until the morning was a bad idea.

"Fawn?" I hollered again. Nothing.

"Just to make this clear, can you tell us exactly what happened?" Luke asked. "When you were with Fawn?"

"I went in there, and she was murmuring something. At first it seemed normal, but when she turned her head, her face looked so different. It was not her. Her eyes were completely black and she spoke something in a really deep voice," I explained, not wanting to reminisce over the horrible memory.

"Damn . . . what'd she say?" Luke asked, intrigued.

"She said something about it wasn't okay that her mother abandoned her and her father killed himself after I told her that it was okay," I answered.
