This caused Celestia to cast a spell that would cause him to fall into a eternal sleep after a bargain was made for him to move his hoard to a mountain fortress beyond the Crystal Empire. The spell will only break when one worthy of a certain gem, known as the Black Star Opal, is chosen by the gem or is need of assistance. He did eventually awaken when a mare by the name of Silverheart was chosen and he had protected her from a Fire Wyvern. The gem granted her immortality and she now presides deep within the Ancestral Fortress as its caretaker.
