It may seem that beauty lies in many ways
But in truth
Those you see walking down the street
On the billboards
On the covers of magazines
Aren't really beautiful
Just attractiveAttractive enough to turn your head
Make you pause for a moment
Hesitate
For that one second
But that's allThat beauty is skin deep
Paper thin
And with such substances
Add water and time
Will crinkle, fade and tear awayIt lies
It supplies a single snapshot
Of a moment made to look
PerfectBut perfection is not what is wanted
Or neededBeauty is though
Beauty allows joy
It is beauty that brings a smile to your face
So that you too can become
BeautifulBeauty lies in those closest to you
It lies in the moments you share
It lies in the relationships you build
As well as the ones you loseBeauty lies beside you
Within you
It's just waiting for a key
Or keys
To let it out.
