Chapter 1: The Time was WW1

(A/N: Listen to this while reading it's kind of haunting I guess, but good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2og075ORSPw)

The great nation of Romany prospered for several decades, and it continued to flourish after it had finally come out of isolation.  The personification of the country, was happy as well considering she was now dating her beloved Germany, a man that had over time healed her broken heart. She couldn't have been any happier especially because her life was more relaxed after she gave up on hurting the rest of the countries so many decades ago. She had her younger sister Arialias to watch over, political issues to resolve, and negotiations to make. So all in all, she was a rather busy country that did not rest that much.

But then the time was World War 1, while Germany went off to find the descendant of Rome, Romany stayed behind, because Italy was her friend and after their friendship had been restored, she altogether refused to harm him. But as I had mentioned before when she had accepted Germany's feelings, and after Romany had broken her promise, something had awakened that the world had long since forgotten. No one was aware actually, until it came and found Romany.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Romany was out in the garden of her home relaxing after so long, tending to the garden like she did every Spring, and failed to notice the dark cloaked figure that was slowly approaching her as to not startle her. The figure leaned against the trunk of a tree, some distance away, and just watched her as she tended to the garden completely oblivious.
After some time bent over the delicate shoots of young buds, Romany stood up and wiped away the sweat on her forehead tiredly, when she saw the figure some distance away and smiled kindly, as she was now able to truly smile after so long.
Tourists were now normal in her country, so oblivious to the strangers intentions, she waved at him and called out with concern, "Are you lost? I'll be happy to help you." The cloaked figure moved away from the tree, and slowly, almost deliberately walked toward her.
Her smile faltered slightly, why was the person wearing black clothes, and had his or her face covered with the hood of their cloak?
"Are you Romany?" the person asked his deep voice similar to Germany's but just a bit different sort of innocent. "I am Romany, but who are you?" she asked, cautious as to how this stranger knew her name, the people of her country knew she was the personification of Romany, but how did this person know?
He gave off a laugh that almost made her heart melt. It was almost like music, quickly she snapped out of her dreamlike daze. She was happily dating Germany, and he was just stranger. Right?
"I'm surprised you forgot me Romany. But maybe this will jog your memory" he said as, he put his hand in the pocket of his cloak, and brought out something that glistened in the bright sunlight. Gently, he placed the metal object in her hand, and shakily she picked it up by the leather chord and looked at the stranger as tears began to pool, in her stormy gray eyes.
There in her hands, was her cross necklace the one that she had given away to that special someone, so long ago. The warm leather of the chord was engraved intricately with promises, words of hope and love all in the language of Romany, and the cross itself was gray but with a polished black stone embedded in the middle.
Gingerly he made her look up as he smiled at her softly, and placed a chaste kiss on her forehead like so long ago. "Do you remember me now Autumn?" he asked before he pulled off the hood of his cloak, only to reveal a face she knew all to well.
The necklace was dropped on the ground in shock as two deep blue eyes stared right back into her own gray ones. Messy blonde hair fell into his face as he gave her the smile that melted her heart, a long time ago.
"Gabriel, you came back" she whispered as she ran toward him, and he pulled her into a hug. "I did, and I'm not leaving you ever again" he whispered back. And he wasn't lying, he was staying, but not many others would be so happy.
