She was screaming. As she sprinted down the street, the bundle of blankets in her arms, slowly unravelled, revealing the peach head, that was calmy sleeping, unconscious , to the world around it; blood seeped out of the numerous wounds that enveloped her body. Her screams became less urgent, and more faint. Her sprint slowed to a jog, as she hurriedly tried to escape the damage that engulfed the land around her.
It was a heart-aching scene. Bodies lay strewn across the street, their once cheerful faces, now left life-less. A river of scarlet blood, flowed parallel to these bodies, but, nonetheless, the woman continued running, her face reflecting nothing but determination. As she rounded a corner, she stopped abruptly, in front of her, a battered orphanage. She knew she had to do it, for the safety of her baby and her. Giving one last glance at the glowing face, bundled in her arms, she carefully placed it on the hard, wooden ground of the orphanage stairs, and ran, not even looking back.
The baby lay there; no peep, or squeek came from its tightly stiched lips. Its head rested on the soft walls of the blankets, not seeming irritated in any way. The scene around the baby was so horrifying that it was counted a relief that the baby was sleeping, for it would've been crying by now, which wasn't exactly fortunate. For as there was no sound coming from the baby, nobody in the orphange could hear it, so, it lay there for the rest of the night, until the tiniest sight of sunlight appeared, filling the sky with mighty colours of red and splashing the clouds with endless rays of pink.
Only then, was when the door of the orphanage suddenly, creaked open, revealing the sun-tanned face of an elderly woman. Once she layed her eyes on the treasure that lay in front of her, she immediately took the fragile baby in the care of the orphange.
