Waiting To Fly

- Akash Gadiya

The skies roared out in rage,

As thunder struck in a fit of outrage,

The little caterpillar tethered in pain,

As the rains schlepped it into the drain,

Fear it wore across its face,

Invariably succumbing in life’s race,

Its journey thus far was a stormy one,

Spell bound, curse, wreck & whip,

It lived in the shadows of sore hardship.

Deep skies, far and wide the infinite blue,

Appeared a butterfly, fluttering away the dew,

It floated in the air with abundant joy,

Existence to it meant to savor & enjoy,

It wandered splashing brilliant colors from its wings,

Soft breeze shooing it away in swings,

Away from the world of mockery & prejudice it flew,

Sugary memories holding onto it like sticky glue,

Flower to flower; it glided in search of fragrance,

Fragrance & the serene ambience,

Forever, it doled out in abundance.

I take you through the black, white & gray,

To the vivid, vibrant, green bay,

All, for only one precious thought to give-away,

That just when the caterpillar assumed the world was over,

It grew to be a butterfly, spread wings & was all set to hover.
