Voices. That's what I called it.

It would rip apart your sanity, rip it apart piece by piece until there's nothing left. It would order you to do something, starting as a whisper. Soon enough, it would get louder and louder, your hearing disappears, your brain crumbles. It would be the only thing you could hear as it repeats those words again and again, never stopping until you've done it.

You might think that it's easy for you. You just have to follow what it says, right? Or maybe you'd dare to ignore it, keep your sanity to yourself. Maybe it'd go away, right?

Nope.

I've tried. I've tried everything. I've tried ignoring it, but that only lasts for several minutes. Your sanity, no doubt, would disappear as time passes by. As long as you haven't done what it asks you to, it'll keep pestering you. As long as you haven't, the throbbing in your head would soon feel like there's a hot knife in your skull. Pain would just continue to be stronger. Noise would just keep on going louder.

There's nothing you can do to make it dissipate.

There are only two options.

Follow it, or-

I was brought back to Earth. No more daydreaming, then.

The two hands that were shaking all of me stopped moving. "Welcome back to class," my teacher said as the whole class sniggered. How long had it been? I snapped my gaze out of whatever I was looking at when I was in a trance and jerked my head to the person beside me, Jason. My partner, my best friend.

As if he knew what I was thinking, he checked his watch and spoke to me in an encouraging tone. "Five minutes and forty seconds. That's a new record for spacing out. Congratulations." He pat me on my shoulder. I returned to looking out of the window beside me, recalling what happened yesterday. Oh, now I remember-

I murdered a girl.
