I was put on straterra when I was nine.
It helped quit a bit.
I remember sitting on the couch in my living room and I would say something that appeared to other people "stupid". My parents would all of a sudden ask "did you take your medicine?" It was hard. I felt stupid and a lot of people with ADHD do feel stupid.
I think a lot of people without ADHD (not everyone) think that they understand what is like for someone with ADHD, but they don't really understand.
ADHD is one of the most common disorders in the US and while you or someone else dealing with ADHD might feel stupid, you or whoever else it is isn't stupid. There are several other people out there dealing with it as well. Meds don't take away your symptoms, they just make them die down a little.
